My company has been using Net4India's web based email - Mail4India.

https://mail4india.com/cgi-bin/webmail/login.cgi

I hate this service with a passion!

Let me count the ways ...

1. Annoying pop-up ads

For about 6-9 months they would have a pop-up ad on the login page!

No good webmail forces any pop-ups on the user at login (e.g., Yahoo).

Secondly, we are already their customers, so who are they trying to convince?

Morons!

I downloaded one of the many free popup killer utilities just to avoid this daily aggravation.

2. Five Folder limit!

That's not a typo.

They do NOT allow any user to create more than 5 folders!

This would be fine for a free service but even free ones allow unlimited folders depending on your available space.

This is a PAID service.

The limit should be set to 10-20 at LEAST.

Actually it should be unlimited like everyone else but we all know they are incapable of doing anything helpful like that.

They were called over 5 times over the course of a few months and we were handed off from the technical people to the business people and finally the marketing in charge.

Still no one could come up with a single good reason for this absurd limit.

They were making dumb excuses like 'system constraints'.

I told them that was a load of BS since we were software developers ourselves and would be happy to change the stupid line of code in the system that is triggered when you try to create a new folder!

Also, the whole point is that you don't need to be developers to be able to tell them to change an arbitrary decision.

Totally irritating!

Idiots!!

3. No filters/rules

Unlike Yahoo, they don't have any way of sorting incoming mail into folders based on our preferences.

So everything piles into the Inbox along with all the spam and makes it hard to sort out.

Dopes!

4. Spam control

They have non-existant or totally useless spam control features so you start getting bombarded 3-6 months after initial use.

They should have Bulk mail or spam folders like Yahoo and others.

Retards!

5. Complex quotas

They have 50 Mb quotas out of which only 20 Mb can be used for your Inbox.

Why?

Why not have a simple/single quota like everyone else?

Were the developers abused as children that they are now taking it out on their users?

Here is a quote from their site:

'50 MB max (inbox quota + single max folder quota) '

Huh?

What the heck does that even mean?

So for clarification they add:

'Inbox size should not be larger than inbox quota and one single other folder should be larger than folder quota. This is applicable only to webmail access. '

Oh, that's much better now - its as clear as mud!

If only our corporate accounts were not with these dumb jackasses, life would be good!

But we must be atoning for some sins in our previous lives to be stuck with them!

Avoid at all costs ...

PS:

Its been over 3 months since we argued with them to increase the number of folders that we can create.

Apparently the red-tape in this small (around Rs. 25 Crore) company is so huge that they can't even take a decision on this minor usability issue!

If any of you know anyone working at this pathetic company please beg them to act rationally and listen to their customers!
