The latest commercial of Nescafe advertising the new rich aroma of their coffee has hit the TV screens and I am sure many of you might've seen it.
The commercial starts with a scene showing people in a train. One bespectacled fellow has the misfortune of sharing his seat with another guy (played by Gaurav kapoor the Channel 'V' VJ) who is at the window seat but is dozing off on his shoulders; which is obviously irritating the hell out of him. The T.C. notices this and says 'arre inhe jagao, nescafe pilao'... They give him a coffee from the railway coffee stall on the platform.
Gaurav who was earlier falling on the next guys shoulders, is suddenly awakened to his senses by the rich aroma of the coffee and starts feeling a bit too energetic. He asks the other guy 'bhai-sahab, time kitna hua'. The other fellow says 'Cche (6 am)'. So, gaurav starts singing 'Ccha..matlab...chamma chamma baaje ri meri painjaniya..chamma chammmaaaa..'. Then says to the other fellow 'Haan ab 'ma'se aapki baari'. By now, the other guy touches his forehead in irritation. Gaurav 'arre, nahi aata.theek hain main gata hu'..and starts 'mummy...oh mummy...tu kab saas banegi'...the people around them start laughing and generally have a good time.
They have shot the commercial quite well (the scene in a train is a perfect setting) and gaurav who keeps on falling asleep on the next guy's shoulders looks very believable. This has happened to all of us who have travelled in buses/trains!! We do lend a shoulder to such people dont we??
Casting Gaurav kapoor in the ad was a good idea because he is genuinely funny. He has done a good job of showing the person who was half-asleep and suddenly after having a cup of Nescafe metamorphoses into an energetic one!!
My God, but Gaurav has sang horribly in this ad..but I think that is what makes the ad funnier.
All in all, its a good ad and manages to convince us about the richness in the taste & aroma of the new Nescafe!!
