Suddenly, out of nowhere, as I sat hunched over my study desk, the hour unknown to me jus then, I began getting this eerie sensation that I was being watched. So I took in a deep breath and looked up, out of my window. Before me, I was expecting to behold a picturesque corner of my neighbour?s well done garden and probably his pet fluffy Pomeranian strutting about pointlessly. But, instead, what greeted me was grotesque indeed! There was no begonia, nor any gulmohur; but only a pale, bluish light filtering through the panes of my window, ugly long shadows and utter silence.
It was ten in the night? It had been four hours since I had last looked outside my window, absorbed in the mechanisms of electrolyses of acids, reactions of esters and geometries of hybridized orbitals.
Slowly, I began realizing my eyes were sore and burning, my back was tired and aching and there was a faint throb in my temple. I stretched my arms, and stared emptily at my books once more. There was no use trying to work any longer.
So I got up from my desk, shutting my enormous heap of reference books heavily and ambled into the living room to find my parents chatting casually. As I entered and sat down by papa?s side, they fell silent: I gave out a huge sigh expecting a gush of remarks from them. Parents will never run short of those during examinations! ?Are you done with your course?? they ask, or ?Do you need me to help you with something?? or, ?Feeling too lazy to work more, are we???they go on until you?re back at your desk, in the solitude and in the enlightening company of Lavoisier and Proust once more.
But Mumsie and Papa seemed to have gauged how tired and fatigued I was just then, because they said nothing. Papa clapped my shoulder playfully, and Mumsie winked. Presently, after exchanging a few one-liners about the influence effected by examinations on students, Mumsie retreated to the kitchen for something, leaving father and I to our solemn selves, debating enthusiastically on the most plausible result of the October 13 elections for the Legislative Assembly of the state of Maharashtra.
Something line fifteen minutes later, Mumsie was back. This time, she had a tray with three cups of chine and a kettle. Coffee!
== The Review ==
Nescafé has been the single most consistently purchased brand in our family. It was only once?when we were entertaining guests who preferred it?that we sampled Bru. But with a name that sounded just like the interjection I pronounced, as an infant, upon seeing a lizard or some other grotesque creature, Bru never particularly appealed to our palate. Add tot hat the almost complete absence of taste!
== Rich Aroma? Splendid Taste ==
Nescafé has, quite plainly, a rich aroma. It?s fragrance is in itself a pleasure to inhale. A strong, yet mischievously appealing scent of coffee beans waiting for you to brew them and drink them! I always prefer coffee with mil?never without to be honest. With the rich and delicious flavor of milk and coffee, a flavor which is strong and bitter-and-sweet, Nescafé is pure encore!
As every sip enters, slowly, down your throat and into you stomach, it releases, at every step, a sensation of freshness and enthusiasm. Slowly, gradually, enjoyably it caresses your tired, lethargic body, relaxes it and spreads vigor and enthusiasm into it, everywhere.
Steaming hot Nescafé? it is an experience in itself. for those who have just awoken, it is a wonderful way to start a new day! For those who have been working for a while but are loosing enthusiasm midway, it is a wonderful way to refresh and energize the mind! For those who have had a long, tiresome day, it is the surest way to rid the body of fatigue and the mind of stress!
Just picture this? you?ve worked hard all day at your office or college or (as in my case) at your study desk. It?s evening now and you?re in the kitchen, eyes sore, body a little feverish from the day?s work. You?ve just washed your face and let the cool air from the fan dry your face. And then you set your lips to the rim of a cup full of steaming Nescafé! You take a sip and allow the sensation to sink in. Every sip doubles the sensation of freshness and relaxation spreading all through your body; from the throat to the stomach to the tips of your finger and toes! You?re alive! Yeah!
== Recipé Café ==
Nescafé can be had in the classic fashion of hot, steaming coffee with a little sugar in milk served in cups of china. This is the only way I like my coffee. But you can also set it in a refrigerator to chill it for an interestingly simple-to-make chilled ?cup of life?! I don?t bother about how cold coffee is made much nowadays. I simply set my regular coffee in the fridge to let it chill! I?ve also performed this interesting experiment of tossing two scoops of chocolate ice cream into this chilled cup of life to have my own cold coffee with ice cream. Gandhian in simplicity of preparation, it?s a cup of chocolaty bliss!
You can try this new thing my Mumsie tried once (I?m sure it?s not ?new? per se). Take chilled coffee and give it a good round of shaking in your food processor to get some foam (it?s as simple as that). Then, break a bar of rich milk chocolate (each square into four nuggets) into chunks and toss them into the drink. It?s not done yet! Whip some vanilla ice cream and artistically pour out some of it into your glass to make your glass of myriad sweet things! Go on, spoil yourself!
You can still toss in a scoop of chocolate ice-cream! What a delightful idea!
Mind you, all this is obscenely calorie rich, so be sure not to make this a part of your regular after-office snack. It could have disagreeable effects and you?d blame me for it! Of course I?m joking about the ?blame? part?
== And so where we began, we return ==
It?s our living room where we left. The cup of coffee was into my system very soon, as my father and I paused in our dignified yet redundant debate. Soon later, I was back at my desk, looking out of my window. It was still dark and silent. Except, the shadows were not ugly any longer. And the silence was golden, not grotesque.
And gamboling before me were, once more, excited carbon atoms overlapping the sp3 hybridized orbitals axially with one another!
