Please don't think this as just some another bollywood thriller.it is far better a complete movie than that. It is a beautiful story of a nice lovely girl showing her brave heart side at a time when it was needed the most. But the real package of the movie is the emotional turbulance the characters go through. Sonam plays the title character very well, to an extent I will say it was far above expectations.
The opening scene is just depicted beautifully. It takes you to 80s in no time.Sonam has done a very good job there so the audience get connected to her immediately. Her father's role is portrayed very realistically by Yogendra Tiku.Shabana Azmi lets you down, some less known actress would have made a better choice for Atul Kasbekar.
And the small role done by Shekhar was a pleasant surprise and even in that small time the emotional aspect of long term friends-turned- lovers is shown realy well. This goes down so well that you can listen people weeping in the theatre when Neerja(sonam) reads his letter.
On the other side the three lead terrorists played by relatively newbies is also very convincing and the difficulty of doing such role is very well answered .Brothers of Neerja have also been depicted with good chemistry. Only the downside was excessively stretched last speech and Shabana Azmi's not so convincing acting.
Overall a must watch! a very emotional one!
