In 1986, we heard the name of Air Hostess Neeraja Bhanot for her sacrifice for rescue of passengers with children in a hijacked American Airlines. Now a biopic on her life and sacrifice by Director Ram Madhwani is playing in theater.
Sonam Kapoor plays Neerja. As pilot leaves the cockpit, she took charge and open the emergency exit to flee and rescue the passengers. She hid her American passport and saves life of 359 passengers on board. Ultimately, she is killed by the terrorist hijackers at the bare age of 23. Story of the film runs parallel with her simple middle class parents in Bombay and bomb making terrorists in karanchi. Director has also dramatize her unsuccessful married life. Sonam Kapoor has lived the life of Neerja deeply and performed her best.
The meaninful dialogue of the film “Zindagi badi honi chahiye, lambi nahi” has the morale of the biopic. How she stands to her duty in such crisis. The film truly depicts her patience, bravery and sacrifice and successes in its purpose.
