Website of Goa's leading newspaper. Review on Navhindtimes

Navhind Times is one of Goa's leading daily newspapers. The website of the paper is titled navhindtimes.com. The portal is useful for those who wish to keep themselves abreast of the latest happenings in Goa. I have the benefit of reading both the newsstand edition and the website edition. However in this review I shall confine myself to website edition only.

One thing to be kept in mind here is that the newspaper is mainly Goacentric.It deals more with the news of Goa. Of course it also has section on national and international news too.Being a Goaphile I access this website daily to get updated on the latest happenings in my dear Goa. The opinion section has writings by eminent journalists of Goa. I like the articles written in the opinion section about the local customs and mannerisms the most. Besides the website also has a magazine section which carries useful cultural articles.

The main page of the website gives the top three headlines of Goa , National and International sections. The Bombay Sensex and local weather are listed on the main page. One of the best features of this website is that it is very easy to navigate. For instance if you slick the headline of a particular section the page with the news opens up and other headlines are given by the side of the page making it easy for you to read any news item in that section.

The site also has a Virtual Goa section in which you shall find pictures of famous tourist spots in Goa.You can also register at the website and voice your opinion in cybervoices. You can also make pen friends ( or email friends ) through this site.

The drawbacks of this site are that the pictures are not updated regularly. Hence for somedays you shall find the same pictures on the pages of the website. Sometimes the some news items of the day before are found in the next day's online edition too. The classifieds sections has not been updated for something like a year now.

However , despite its drawbacks the quality of news is good. Local issues are raised and coverage to national and international news items is also given. A good website to keep a tab on the pulse of Goa.
