NSDL eInsurance account : a dead product already

EInsurance account is a great idea. But looks like it never took off and seems already dead. Following is an experience with NSDL, but going by responsiveness of other providers, your experience may not differ much with them.


Following is a saga from opening an eInsurance account with NSDL till trying to convert insurance policies online:




  • No response received whatsoever from them after doing all the procedure and submitting the documents to the intermediary they call as authorized person or AP.




  • Realized that AP is a useless redundant entity. Had no answer whatsoever about why there is delay in opening account. Even their calls were not being answered by nsdl morons.




  • Finally took it upon myself to follow up directly with nsdl. Helpdesk did not respond to a single mail. If at all there was one odd reply in the whole follow up saga just parrotting the standard procedure.




  • The phone was never picked up by anyone. Did lots of tricks to find some other phone numbers from nsdl organization in order to reach someone responsible for this. It took nearly 2 months of near alternate day follow up after which one person reluctantly spoke.




  • Instead of fixing the problem, because of which their system was not able to send activation mail, they just set the password over manually sent email and phone. My account got activated after 2 months of relentless follow up, but with no email or sms reaching me from their systems. They didn't care to fix it.




  • I thought the saga was over, but not until I followed the procedure to convert some policies to electronic form. After following all due procedure the request is still not processed, the phones are not being picked, mails are not being answered and I have lost the enthu to follow up with them.




  • There is nothing called nodal officer to escalate the matter. Tried sending mails to higher officers from nsdl whose email ids are publicly available. Not a single one was responded to.




  • Tried filing a complaint with irda. Their system sucks. The complaint could not even be submitted.




  • Filed a complaint with finance ministry. No response till date.




  • Law does not permit opening of 2 eia accounts. Hence I have hit a dead end here. I am waiting for a procedure to switch the account to some other. Fingers crossed as, seeing their names, I have similar past experience of irresponsiveness from CAMS and Karvy as well, in different matters.
