I accept that the system are slow but, if one has “know how “to get his/her work done. He can get his work done smoothly. One should know the complete extensive paperwork to gain approval by several people in order to accomplish the insurance claim. Below is the collection or sequence of forms and procedures required to gain approval and insurance claim.

One of my close friend sudhir’s bikes was stolen on 14 September. 2009 from south Delhi area during night. He dialed police control room at 100 and informed the police in the morning when he came to know about it. He then visited the local areas ps and logged a complain formally with all the details (photocopy of rc). The complain should contain all the details like registration no., chasis no. Model, etc . Police does not initially log a fir(first information report) but with talking to them politely , they log a fir else use can use your jack or under the table . In our case it was done with soft words only thanks to dp. The fir is an written story of the theft or incident which police to investigate. Write clearly and correct with each details.

Do not hide any point . On the same day with an intimation letter inform insurance company in written with the copy of complaint which you submitted in police station (ps). Take the receiving for the same. When surveyor comes bargain with him. He will ask for two keys, bike paper original. Don’t give any original to surveyor . Surveyor is out sourced from insurance company itself. After that surveyor will come and take an written allocation copy with you along with it, he will ask with neighbors regarding the bike. And take witness signature . When you get the fir copy in original from ps then you need to fill the claim form with all the photostats copies.

No need to submit any original copy and get receiving of every documents . The insurance company only take action after they receive the “ non traceable report “. The police take certain no of days (~ 45 -60 days ) to hand over the “non traceable report “ .if they are not able to find the bike. (try to follow up regularly with police station politely and with patience). Once you get the “non traceable report “and final report , submit it to the insurance company along with the application. Also send to surveyor to give the report to insurance company by surveyor. Once insurance company gets all the information then officer look into the bundle of paper. Then they will ask to submit all the original documents along with indemnity deed and subjugation deed . After that insurance company will give you the form for vehicle transfer it in the name of insurance company. After getting new rc which is in the name of insurance company go and take ncr from ncrb office (r.k. Puram). Then submit both the things to insurance company same day . This will be your last step for starting process of creating the claim cheque. After that get claim cheque and submit it into your bank. They issue you the cheque after deducting a certain small amount . We got it on 12 march , 2010. Almost six months.

There's so much red tape involved in approving our insurance claim that we're tempted to postpone it indefinitely. Good luck and i pray god that no one has to go thru this. Hope this is useful a bit
