NMIMS. Ranked No2 in Bombay - with some great placements
for batch of 2001. The best thing I can say about NMIMS
is that it has great potential. It can easily become a force
to reckon with, given the right management. Sad but true, a
management institute needs good management. the students are
eager and willing but if the Kelavani Mandal (the trust under which
the institute was founded and the people who ''manage'' the place)
decides to milk the brand to make more money instead of strengthening
the product offering - the institute will lose out in the long
run.
One good thing out there right now is Prof. Mankad - the new director.
Coz Prof. Bhushan was sending the insti to it's grave. Then there are
some great professors like Prof. Rakesh Singh, Prof. Dadbhavala (Daddy),
Prof. Madhok, Prof. Sandhya Karpe (Sandy Kaps), Prof. Sirur and some excellent part time faculty.
NMIMS has loads to offer - Full time MMS program, PGDBA Program, PGDRM (Rural marketing),
PGDACM (Advertising and communications mgmt) program and now even the Family MBA program,
Part Time Post Graduate programs like the MFM, MMM, MHRM, etc. Diplomas too in everything
you can think of plus loads of other money making activities.
What makes NMIMS is the core full time MMS, PGDBA (the dabbas), PGDRM, PGDACM programs.
All work & no play makes jane a dull girl (gender bias) - therefore NMIMS has
Euphoria and Sambandh. Euphoria is the full time students inter b-school
festival. Sambandh is by the part-timers.
It has a good library but loads of the good books are in the
reference section and we can't take them home.
It is now going to be centrally airconditioned too.
Well what else - some good alumni - Dina Mehta, Laxmi Hariharan,
Navonil Roy, Anuraag Trikha, etc. And there is the Milap for the alumnus to meet up.
But well- give them something to be proud about - and they'll return.
Well the next few years are going to be very crucial for NMIMS. If it manages
to improve - there is no doubt it'll beat Bajaj. But we need to take it higher.
Prof. Mankad - all eyes are on you now.
