The British Formula 3 series is a proving ground for great drivers. The likes of the late Ayrton Senna,Damon Hill, Mika Hakinnen, Mika Salo, Pedro Diniz and Jenson Button cut their''Racing teeth'' in this series. Another driver who has honed his considerable skills in F3 racing in Britain,is India's own Narain Karthikeyan. Narain raced for the Ford-owned Jaguar Racing Team with incredible success. No wonder he is being widely tipped as a championship winning contender.
Narain has received sponsorship from Ford India, Kingfisher by way of the personal interest of Chairman Mr Vijay Mallya,JK tyres and the Tata Group have also assisted the talented young Indian driver.
On commenting on Narain, Paul Stewart,the previous Chief Operating Officer of Jaguar Racing,noted ''...I believe we have two talented young drivers in Narain and his team mate (Tomas Schekter) and with the systems we have in place,I believe they can both succeed at this level and beyond to Formula I. High praise indeed.
There is no doubt that Narain is highly talented and perhaps it will not be too long before we see the brilliant Indian driver in a Formula I Car !
