What went wrong? Not long ago, everyone was sharing music, all over the world. People found the rare and obscure songs for all their favourite bands, and made new friends along the way. It was a way to share your music with others, and help them out. So why did Napster have to be shut down?? The answer is, because of the bigwigs who run the record companys, and in some cases the artists tehmselves. They didn't want their music going out free, therefore losing valuable pounds / dollars. They needed that money to line their pockets with, but millions of people were trading new material from unreleased albums, and rare songs, for nothing, and it made the people upstairs unhappy. No. It made them FURIOUS. They didn't feel that this program, on the internet, would do any good for them so they decided to SUE, the owner. This was a harmless way of getting what you wanted music wise, for nothing, but it was ruined for millions by those who felt that they needed more cash to blow on stupid things. It saddens me tho think that these artists never even thought about their fans when they decided to sue this small software, website. This made me feel disillusioned with the whole buisness.

Bands / artists that didn't want Napster to stay : Metallica, Madonna and the like.

Bands / artists that DID want Napster to stay : Blink 182, Limp Bizkit and The Offspring, etc.

Of course, so far this opinion has had nothing to do with the software itself. To rectify this, I will leave you with my thoughts on it, and the napster website.

This program (was) easy to use, and gave me many hours of enjoyment downloading songs on MP3, of all my favourite abnd, while the website was easy to navigate and told me about smaller bands that weren't that well knonw (Mest, Rufio) in the alternative scene, but were just as good as the bigger names.

Well done Napster, the software was great and the quality good. the website was easy to navigate, and I found it easy to sign up for Napster. Shame it had to go....R.I.P
