Napster has hit the headlines quite a lot lately. For now, we can download our music for free, but for how long will this go on for? It's possible we will have to start paying for the music we want. I'm sure there will be other places we will be able to get our music from, but I don't think there will ever be another one with such an extensive range of music as Napster.
I have been a member of Napster for about 1 year now, and have downloaded songs I've not been able to find anywhere else in a long time. I should think every song ever made is in the Napster library. Someone, somewhere, has got the song you want! Not only does it have all the latest hits from the pop bands around the world, it has hits way back when I was just a babe in arms! (And that's going back a long time!!).
I truly hope Napster can come to a compromise with the law makers of this world, and allow us to download the music we want to.
The only gripes I have with Napster is that songs do sometime take a long time to download. I have waited for half an hour sometimes on one song. Also, you may encounter 'transfer error'. This has happened to me on a number of occasions. As this is a file sharing site, and you are downloading songs from other people, if they go offline, you song obviously stops downloading. And there's no way of resuming the download when the person comes back online again.
Napster does have a chat room where you can go and chat instantly with other Napster members. This is pretty cool, and sometimes pop in there when I'm waiting for my song to download. You can also instant message with someone on a one-to-one basis.
