Nandi Hills is a Popular hill resort around 60 Kms from Bangalore. We were thinking since a long time to visit this place but always confused as to how to get there. Finally one day we boarded KSRTC bus Straight to Nandi Hills via Doddaballpur. The Bus started at 8:30 in Morning and reached the Nandi Hills bus stand at 11 PM. After following a few steps we Climbed upto Nandi Hills. The weather was pleasent a little hot because it was month of May. But still ok. Nandi hills is an ideal picnic place but there is,nt much as far as sight seeing is concerned. The places we saw were:

  1. Amrit sarovar

It is the first place you see as you enter the main gate of Nandi hills. To me it seemed a ordinary pond where no activity can be performed. Nothing special to mention about lake except that the lake is amidst a lot of greenary.

  1. Yoginandishwara Temple.

Its an ancient temple dedicated to Bull Lord. There is another temple inside of Goddess Parvati. A temple of Ganesha and Hanuman are in Close vicinity to temple. The Temple is situated on a rocky terrain so avoid walking bare foot on a sunny day. Temple is not a great architectural marvel but still some engravings on wall are worth seeing.

  1. Nehru Nilya

Situated in Lush Greenary this white colored monument can not be seen from inside. But an ideal place for some photography.

  1. Tipu's drop

The scariest of all the places. One should not return from Nandi hills if he has not seen this place from where Tipu Sultans used to Punish the Prisoners and Criminals. Looking down from Tipu's drop is very scary as it is a steep drom around 1200 feet high.

I'll recommend Nandi hills for a quick weekend. Carry your own food as both the restaurents situated here serve poor quality food. We ate in Mayura Pine and food was really bad. Water Bottles, Soft Drinks and other Munch are available so need not carry them.

So do not wait for u'r own vehicle and reach Nandi hills by any public transport. all the sites can be reached by walking. Just carry enough candies with you which would help you move around.
