Do you like to fall sick? If this were asked to me around 4 years back I would have said, “yes” promptly… surprised? Yeah!! Seeing all the special treatment and importance given to the sick people I used to pray to god “o god, please just once make me very sick so that I get a lot of importance and just lie at one place with everything for me done by others.” You see I am a very lazy person, and god said “Tathastu”, LoL!!
And Lo!! Here was this day when I was sick (not bed ridden, weak types) and was admitted to the Nanavati hospital. Wow!! I was really happy, but what’s this I came in walking, talking happily and all of the sudden I was given this hospital dress and asked to lie down quietly on the bed. Ok, but that’s what I asked for :o)
It was a quite and clean place, I was put in a small neat room but with that typical hospital odor. Just after a few minutes my treatment started and the first thing to be done was CT scan. I could have just walked till there but no the ward boy and the nurse wouldn’t allow me [special treatment ;o)]… I had to wait for quite some time before my turn came and I remember how happy I was to go in that CT scan machine which I had seen only in films. He he!!
Then followed a series of X-rays, tests, injections, medicines I was quite ok till I came to the hospital, suddenly started feeling sick now :o( It was always the doctors assistants coming for check ups, when the doctor came in he hardly even bothered to check the X-rays my father actually has to give him and ask him to check them (each visit of the doctor and their assistant is charged). Another set of medicines was given and my brother just ran down to get them, only later we found some of those medicines were already there. When someone of the family is sick we hardly bother to check the expenses. This repetition of medicines happened quite some times, each time the doctor prescribed, no nurse or assistant bother to tell us this is the same one of that type only with different name. One test followed the next one, which was getting on my nerve… later we came to know that, as my father get all expenses reimbursed from office there were so many tests just done for the heck of it :o( Oh god!! I am sick of this place, please help.
I was taken to the Operation Theater, the place I feared the most Brrr!!. I had to wait outside the OT for almost 1 hour before then took me inside and by that time I was so nervous almost on the verge of tears. O god!! I didn’t ask for this :o( after the operation the doctor gave me the title as “the most nervous patient” :o) it seems during the operation I got up from the bed and the doctor has to slap me hard to put me back to sleep LoL!!.
Yeah!! Finally, I was fit enough to go home :o) thanks to all the good doctors and nurses I got good n proper treatment. I had to go for regular check-ups at the hospital OPD and believe me the doctors were quite arrogant then, he was an ENT but because I was going for throat treatment he refused to check my ears, it seems for that I had to go to his private clinic.
Yes medication (specially when it is being reimbursed) comes at a very high cost here but the staff and the doctors are very helpful, friendly and the best, at least till the time you are in the hospital ;o), and that’s what one looks for when not well. While leaving everyone sweeper, servant, cleaner and liftman asked for tip, god only knows what for as I think they must be getting their salaries on time.
Later I Thanked god!! And prayed that Please don’t make anyone sick ever in this world. Even if someone requests you to make them sick, please forgive them, as they don’t know what they are asking for. When I was leaving I saw another patient admitted to my room, you cant blame god for this I guess, he has to listen to everyone, I mean including the doctors ;o)
Although I don’t recommend anyone to fall sick and get admitted to any hospital, but still if god forbid you fall sick I recommend you 'Nanavati hospital', for you will be treated by good and friendly doctors and surely be fine soon.
P.S: An Apple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away, But If The Doctor is Handsome/Beautiful keep the Apple Away ;o)
