Well, I had given many yummy reviews on a few other restaurants, but if I have to frankly speak about this Namma MTR, my honest response would only be ? ?It?s a highly disappointing restaurant at Chennai?.

About Namma MTR, they have a restaurant at Bangalore and a recently opened branch at Chennai. Namma MTR is situated at one of the heart-of-the-city locality G.N.Chetty Road, T. Nagar in Chennai.

-My visit to Namma MTR :

On the same road, ?Murugan Idli Shop? is another restaurant which has a very good reputation (this is situated just away of about 10 to 15 buildings from Namma MTR Restaurant).

Since I had heard a great deal about the excellent food-items offered at Murugan Idli Shop, I visited this restaurant with my husband on a pre-planned evening, but unfortunately by the time we visited, the restaurant was over-crowded & we learnt that it might take at least another 1 to 1 ½ hours just to enter into that restaurant itself.

So, considering the factors that it was already around 9.00 p.m. and we had already started feeling hungry, we decided to visit the next option of this nearby Namma MTR. I had seen this restaurant several times whenever I had passed by that road. From the outer appearance, Namma MTR has been good-looking with glass doors and neatly arranged circular tables and chairs with uniformed bearers.

-The Namma MTR Restaurant :

The moment we entered the restaurant we were disappointed to find that we were not even welcomed by anyone. OK, also the restaurant was almost empty except for 2 other tables.

When given an overall glance, I could find that many of their tables were not even cleaned and the remaining food items were still found giving a kind of chafing odour. We chose a comparatively better table, which also had not been cleaned properly but there were no left-out plates.

My husband called a Server, but no one turned up. Since we were discussing something, we waited for them to take their time and would you believe if I say, that, after waiting for nearly 20 minutes, a Bearer did turn up to wipe the table clean. I requested him to provide us some cool water urgently, but the sickening fact is that he brought two glasses of water after about 15 minutes and that too, water was not cool.

By that time, we had already started feeling little irritated and I told the Bearer in a cold voice that we were already waiting for more than half-an-hour and we wanted to have the menu card urgently and we were not ready to wait any longer.

-Our experience at Namma MTR :

Now comes the most irritating story??. The Bearer brought a menu-card which contained only the fast-food items like Bhel Poori, Pav Bhajji etc. and when I enquired him whether any tiffin items were available, he informed us that Idlis were available. Unfortunately there were no soups or other quick starters!!! We ordered a plate of Idlis and a plate of Bhel Puri and found that they were horrible for the kind of their price. Since again if we had to eat something, we had to only order some fast-food item & none of our South-Indian tiffin items were available (as per what the Bearer told us), we decided to better go home.

OK, you know what happened next ? When we were given the Bill, at the cash pay counter, I was rather shocked to find a list of food-items (list board hung in the wall) available at their restaurant ranging from Idli, different varieties of Dosas, chappathis, Barottas etc. I really can?t express how agitated I felt. We were in the stage of settling our bill with lot of frustration (almost with an empty stomach). When I enquired one of their Bearers why they didn?t properly inform us of the other food-items available, I got a reply that I didn?t ask them whether anything was available or not.

Then, while we moved onto the wash-basin, we could find some information on the various ready mix packs available with them, like Puliyodharai mix, pickles, sambar powder mix, rasam mix etc. The rates against them were pretty high and when I decided to purchase a few of them, we were informed that those were the old rates and they have been recently revised. When I asked them for the new price-list for these ready mix packets, there was no proper response.

Also, I could only find that all the Bearers were all standing together and chatting. Although it was by around 9.15 p.m. and almost nearing the closing time, at least they could have been little dedicated to their job because the restaurant had a few more minutes to be closed. We could also hear other visitors complaining that they were taking too long to serve the items.

The above had been my horrifying personal experiences with Namma MTR. I sincerely dis- recommend your visits to this restaurant & ur comments about this revu are most welcome!!!!!!!

Do not forget to rate my review too??. Thanks for ur valuable time.
