Summer weather has finally arrived in full force for us here in the Kansas City area. Along with the warmer temperatures comes swimming pools, athletic games, picnics and cookouts and shorter shorts! Shorter shorts? You bet your bippy!

Chewbaca would be jealous if he saw my legs the first time I bared them to the world. The hair was so long that it would have clogged a brush hog! My husband wasn't so thrilled with my less-than-smooth legs either so off to Wal-Mart we went.

My intention was to just buy some plain old razors and shaving cream to take care of the situation as I always had. Since our Wal-Mart is under construction the management there has decided it would be best to mix and match all items in the departments. In other words, you have to walk through a little of this and a little of that before you find what you're looking for. That's exactly how it happened, that's when I found Nair.

The bottle said: Quick'n Easy 4 Minute Formula. Ok, sounds easy enough. How do I use it? Shake the bottle, smooth on thickly but DO NOT RUB IN. Alright, that sounds ''quick'n easy'' so let's give it a go. Now, picture me sitting on the floor of my bathroom in nothing but bra and underwear with pink goop all over my legs...not a pretty site.

I continue reading the bottle for further directions. It states that Nair lotion will work for most women in 4 minutes. If you try to test a small spot and the hair doesn't wipe off easily you need to leave it on for a few more minutes. However, in big bold print it specifically mentions that you should not leave on for more than 10 minutes. Wonder why? Because it will burn you! Once your time is done you simply rinse with clear, lukewarm water using a washcloth if needed. Don't rub or use soap because it will irritate your skin.

My first question about the rinsing part is, who in the world would use anything but clear water? Another issue that I had is that this product doesn't rinse off easily. I complied with the directions and didn't rub it, but I did need that washcloth lightly ''wash'' the pink goop off.

Nair can be used on legs, arms or anywhere except the eyes, inside of the nose, ears or on breast nipples, perianal or vaginal/genital areas. Ok, if you've got hair on your nipples I don't want to know about it and I doubt you'd be buying something like this to remove it. Pluck it!

Ingredients:

water, mineral oil, calcium hydroxide, urea, potassium thioglycolate, ceteryl alcohol, ceteareth-20, sodium hydroxide, fragrance and iron oxides.

If you're looking for a quick fix to the hairy legs, this probably isn't it. A regular old razor and shaving cream/gel works the best in my opinion. Before trying this on your entire leg or arm area be sure to test a small area first to ensure that you don't have an allergic reaction. For example, I tried it on my big toe first. Sounds gross huh? Hairy toes? Yeah, well, at least it's not my nipples!

Enjoy the summer!
