Review:(No spoilers)

Imagine living blind for almost 20 years of your life & suddenly you gain

back your eyesight. What would the reaction be? Obviously that of joy &

celebration. You are going to see all the beautiful things in this world that

you missed for past 20 years of your life. However for Naina(Urmila

Matondkar) life is not as beautiful as she had thought it to be.

The year is 1986 & its a day of solar eclipse, a young girl of five(Naina)

loses her eyesight and her parents in a freak accident in London. At the same

time another girl is born in the remote village of Bhuj in India. The girl is

named Khemi(Shweta Konnur).

The story than moves ahead twenty years, the year is 2005 when Naina is

bestowed with the gift of sight. Thanks to the marvels of modern science, a

cornea implant brings her vision back. Naina thinks her period of darkness is

over but than the Almighty had some other plans for her. With the implant

through which her vision is restored, she starts seeing a new world hitcher

to unknown to mankind. She strats seeing some figures that she does not

realize who they are. They are actually the dead!! Her world has

totally taken new dimensions. She sees things that no other people can see.

She is scared, traumatised with this new life of hers when a Pshyciatrist

Sameer(Anuj Sawney)makes entry into her life. With his help she starts unraveling the mystery of what is actually happening with her. She is just

about to start leading a normal life when she realizes that the girl whom she

actually sees in the mirror is not her but somone else!!!

Naina is hell-bound to find out who this girl is what is the significance of her in her own life. The journey takes her to India where she discovers a startling truth that changes her life. Will she ever be able to resume her regular life again?

Naina is the quest of a young woman trying to find the answers to these

supernatural mysteries. Will she succeed? See the mmovie!

I was amzed to see some reviews mentioning Urmila getting married & killing Asmit Patel(who actually has no role in this moovie). All that is total crap & watch the movie to know the 'real' thing.

Writing anything more about story will be a spoiler.

Performances & Direction:

This isn't the first time that Urmila has done a shiver giver. Ram Gopal Varma's ''Bhoot''is indelibly etched in viewers' minds as the ultimate spook story. However, ''Naina'' is a totally different experience. Urmila's look and personality are transformed much beyond ''Bhoot''. The location and the ambience exude a different flavor. She has delivered her role with utmost perfection.

Anuj Sawhney & Shweta Konnur too have done their homework right.

As the concept, theme and treatment are totally untried the debutant director has done a fine job in executing the movie. The special effects, which have been done entirely in London where the film has been shot, offer a good feast for the eyes. The operation theatre, underwater scenes are well shot. The climax has been executed with perfection & is to watch out for.

Although there are no songs, the background score is excellent & adds zing to the suspense.

The drawback of movie is that it isn't scary unlike other spooky movies like The Ring, Exorcist...etc. At times the movie drags a little bit & you start feeling bored. The length of movie is 2 hours & without any songs. There are a few scenes that may run a chill down your spine. Had it not been for Urmila's acting the movie would have been worth a miss. Her performance & the novel storyline is what keeps you glued to your seats for 2 hours. The plus points of this movie are Naina & the conception & execution of the novel plot .

Worth watching it once as a thriller & not a spooky movie.
