A good movie worth watching. Review on Nadodigal Movie

After a very long time and goaded by the various press and media reviews I ventured to view the tamil movie Nadodigal on 25th July 2009.

I always have a prejudiced view on films - they are so unrealistic, they play too much on emotions, showcase the heroines in way which is just short of porn etc etc and this view has kept me from watching movies even at home. Before Nadodigal, I saw Mozhi and I liked it so much, for its straightforward narration, the homour interlaced with the narration, the beautiful way it showcased the inter personal relationships, feelings etc, without being too much sentimental, unreaistic, emotional and dramatic.

For the same above mentioned reasons, I like Nadodigal too. Story is thin - but the way it is narrated is just superb. The movie is about the virtues of friendship and deals on betrayal of the sacrifices friends made. I am not dwelling deep further - it is better seen on screen.

The lead actors and actresses were just superb. Their performances were just down to earth and natural. Back ground music was good. One song is good, the other two are a thrust. However, there are some weaknesses in the movie:

1. The first half was pacy and excellent. the second half is slow and towards the end it is preachy.

   
   




2. As mentioned earlier, the first two songs are a thrust - not required at all

   
   




3. In the second half, there are certain portions, which has little relevance to the main story line - This makes the second half a bit dull relatively.

   
   

However, the overall product is good and it is worth spending time and money in watching the movie.
