I was a student of NIIT, Deccan branch, Pune. for 3 years, for MIS.(actually, I still am a student.as I am struggling to get my fees refunded and the certificate for the past 5 months.) and have completed 3 semester till date( A semester has to get completed in 6 months)!
This institute has taught me a lot and inbibed in me a lot of soft skills.let me list them down.
1.) It has made me more CONFIDENT -
With such pathetic faculty, of which the quality is falling day by day, when yous sit in the class and actually tell them that what they are teaching is wrong, you get a lot of CONFIDENCE in yourself that you are not the worst case in the world!
2.) It has made me more PATIENT -
Now you see, with an institute that takes 3 years to complete a 1 1/2 year course, and then fight for 5 months and still not get your money back, you need a lot of PATIENCE!
3.) It has taught me don't go by the LOOKS -
A nice creative Advertisement does not neccesserily mean a nice product.
4.) INVEST WISELY, LEARN THE VALUE OF HARD EARNED MONEY -
* I paid 66, 000 for the course, now I guess it is 1, 20, 000; so all you people you would do better in the job market if you take up some allied course of the field you want to get into, nyways their placement cell offers you jobs with salaries from 1.5-2.5 lac.even a call centre employee earns that.
I was working for a "big 4"
(Big 4's are the largest Accounting, Advisory and Consulting firms in the world namely, -
Delloite
Price Waterhouse Coopers(PwC)
Ernst & Young(E&Y)
KPMG
So much for the GK part!)
as a business analyst, and now I have shifted to the gulf as a financial analyst with another "big 4", no where in the interview did they give weight on my computer litreacy; they polietly told me "Sorry, but we are aware of the quality of courses!"
So, all you people you would do better by doing some other allied courses( this does not count for those who have got lots and lots of money, and just want to spend it somewhere)
5.) It have learnt PERSEVERANCE -
You see, to fight for so long, does require some perseverance.
6.) I have learnt DETERMINATION -
now, again fighting for long, I am pretty determined to get my money back, I won't let these thugs just take it away, just like that.
7.) I have learnt TIME MANAGMENT -
* Now, if the batch has which is scheduled for 3:30 - 5:30, and the effective teaching time is;
3:50 - 5:15( that is when the faculty comes), you can save a cool 35 minutes of your day by reading your favouraite novel or the newspaper.
And, you would be often lucky, as me, the faculty would not turn upto 6 classes a monthof the scheduled 12 classes!
Thanks to their weekly meetings, monthly meetings, sick leaves, month end account closure.etc etc
8.) "CUSTOMER IS THE KING" - A myth:
You see this line looks good in marketing and managment books, but when you are trying in NIIT, I swear Government agencies are faster. At least, you can bribe them!
They take payments after the first meeting, but then when it comes to refund.see my case
they have already taken 5 months!
9.) Don't trust the world, its out their to fool you:
First, the quality of faculty promised, the dreams spun by them, and then when due to attrition rate, the faculty drops out, they keep changing faculties, we did not have classes for 3 full months, just bcoz they did not have a faculty, and you know what - they preffered saving 18 Rs( Their were 18 students, presuming it takes 1 Re to call every one for a minute) than informing the students, and when we used to enquire, some bull-shit reasons were given.
And, best was when during our semester exams, a weak student asked the faculty for 5-6 answer,
and guess what she told him the answers! and all wrong!
10.) I have realized your dreams are just your dreams, no one else cares for it -
I joined NIIT with high aspirations, but they are more intrested in admitting the students, than to help achieve their dreams, boy let me tell you, it's just your close one's who care for your dreams and help you achieve it, rest like these institutes are more intrested in your wallet!
11.) Commercialization of education is not the thing of the future:
It is the "in-thing", see NIIT.
12.) How to cut down your expenses -
They never called if the classes were off( Poor batch mates who used to come from Nigdi and Wadgaon), but if your fees are due you would get a call the very next day! So you see, how much cost you can reduce.!
