I joined NIIT for the much hyped GNIIT course. It was supposed to be the best in the country, nay, the world!! I joined the classes closest to my house. The first semester was great. The second was cool. The third was pathetic. Don't ask abt the fourth. We had to move to another center. The fourth semester is available only at this centre, they said. Why??. I still can't figure out why.
Then came placement day. That was 6 months after my course finished!!!!
''U want a software programming job?. Avg marks? 85. Sorry. Need 90%+. ''

Desperate, I said yes to going for a marketing job. Marketing anti virus software. Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Two weeks after the interview, no reply. I got another job on my own. The next day, I got the marketing job. AT A LESSER SALARY THAN WHAT I MANAGED TO GET ON MY OWN. I told the NIIT placement guy I had to go out of town for a few days. So give me a week. After making me wait for 2 weeks for an answer, without giving me an intimation, he had the guts to tell me I had to go for the marketing job pronto!! Were they sleeping for 2 weeks if it was so urgent? No prizes for guessing which one I took.
Then came another dialogue with NIIT.
''U want software?. Ok. No problem''
''Huh? I thought 90% +...''
''We'll manage''
''Sorry guys. I don't trust u anymore. Give me back my 10000 bucks. Now!!''
End of story.
At my job, 2 months later, I saw a girl from my batch. Getting a lesser salary than me, in my own company, in the same post. Only, she was a trainee. Really crazy. On my own, I did better than them with all their contacts and resources.
Better to try out something like the ones IBM has set up. Would really help.
