Welcome to the city of palaces, serenic lifestyle, pure ghee sweets and silk sarees.welcome to Mysore.Mysore, having derived it's name from the evil demon'mahisha sura' is the most prefered town in karnataka after bangalore.mysore has reamined mute witness to the many changes over the years ,first the Tipu dynasty, then the Wodeyar dynasty, mysore has remanants of all it's royal occupants.the scenic beauty and the quiet old world charm has drawn many people towards it.it is an ideal holiday spot to relaxand unwind after the hullabaloo of the crowded cities.

mysore is located at a distance of 140 Kms from B angalore ,the capital city of karnataka.it is easily reachable by rail oR road.the journey is very pleasant ,the entire strech covered with lush green paddy or sugarcane fields and the bubbly river of Cauvery.

the city is famous for it's monuments ,each unique and artistic in it's own way

THE PHILOMENA'S CATHEDRAL,has the distinction of being amongst asia's tallest chapels.it's exquisite decor is indeed a treat for the sore eye.

the Chamundi Hill ,which houses the temple of godess chamundi which is indeed a very very sought after place of worship yup,it is indeed the very same temple where Ms.controversy ,jayalalithaa visited prior to her election .the temple situated atop the hill indeed is a marvellous place of religious and tourist attraction.

The Mysore Palace is the royal abode of the wodeyar clan is a place not to be given a miss.the palace though it is said is not as magnificent as it's predecessor, which was burned down centuries back.the palace now converted into a museum is very well maintained and informative.for those with a keen eye for historic details, the visit will prove very fruitful.the king's wardrobe, his cutlery, his paintings ,his furnishings all leave us spellbound on the richness and the extravagance of the royalty.further the sunday illumination of the palace is breathtaking scene which is a don't miss item.

The Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens is our next halt.are u travelling with kids?then this place is a must see.no kids?never mind.it's never too late to refresh our childhood memories and what better place than a zoo.the zoo houses very rare breeds of animals and birds and the vast expanse is very pleasant to stroll with the lovely greenery.

the Krishnaraja Sagar dam and the Brindavan gardens situated on the outskirts of Mysore,is virtual example of the geniuses of the past, their scientific technology , almost devoid of advanced machinery seems on par with our modern methods.the dam has a large number of sluice gates and is a great pleasure for those with an adventuros spirt in the rainy months.when the river is angrily hissing through the dam the noise is defeaning but still it is a delight to watch nature's fury.the Botanical gardens, complete with lush parks and beautiful fountains is paradise on earth, further the lighting on weekends is a divine experience.

Mysore is basically very calm and peaceful.the roads are broad and very spick and span.the people of mysore are very friendly and hospitable, having the tradition of always welcoming visitors with open arms.when in mysore don't forget to visit the arts and craft emporium, which exhibits mysore finest craftmanship in sandalwood.the silk emporium is also very entertaining for the ladies and quite a strain on the pocket for the menfolk with it's wide range of designs.the 'masala dosa' and the pure ghee 'mysore pak' melts in the mouth as I finally leave the city with my stomach and my bags full of mysore very own specialities and my heart so full of everlasting memeories
