I remember someone started a thread once about one or two years ago (maybe more, but I can't find it lol) and we talked about what type of roles we wanted to see SRK in. I remember I said I've always wanted to see him play an autistic character. That wish finally came true when I watched My Name Is Khan last night. I can't find words to describe how amazing SRK was in the movie. Just watching him be Rizvan Khan on screen was just wow. He totally nailed the performance. SRK is the film. It's an award-worthy performance in my opinion, and I really hope he'll be recognized for this next year. I'll be really sad if he doesn't.

Major spoilers ahead:

On to the film. It was great! I loved it. It's entertaining and well worth the money. Definitely Karan's best film after KKHH. I was hoping this movie would take over KKHH for me. My ONLY problem, like many of you, were length/editing, the hurricane scene, and the scene when Rizvan gets stabbed which came out of no where. I know that both scenes were required for the progression of the movie, but I just wish they were done differently. Maybe some other events that would've brought Rizvan closer to the President.

Every movie has flaws, and I honestly believe Karan was the best choice for this movie. He kept it simple, real, and entertaining at the same time. It's hard to make a movie like this. At 2 hrs and 20 min or something, this movie would've been perfect! I'm glad he made this movie though and gave SRK this amazing role. Kajol was great too!

Music, cinematography, all top-notch!

Some favourite scenes:

  • When Mandira proposes to Rizvan (Okay, this is THE BEST scene for me in the movie. Rizvan's expression was wow. Got emotional )

  • The motel scene with Rizvan and Jitesh. Very powerful. Second favorite scene.

  • Mandira's breakdown after Sam passes away.

  • The mosque scene. Powerful.

  • Noor E Khuda was amazing to watch.

  • The church scene.

  • The last scene in the movie when they finally meet President Barack Obama.

Everyone should watch this movie at least once. It's great due to its message, and is entertaining at the same time.

4/5 from me.

Hoping to go again tomorrow.

P.S. The cinema was 95% full. I got there an hour early and there was already a huge lineup. Still ended up with good seats. My parents also watched it, and they pretty much felt the same way as I did.
