My Name is Khan, this movie is in the limelight for quite some time. So I decided to go checkout whats in store.

This movie is about an Indian Muslim staying in the US, how his life twists and turns with the outbreak of 9/11, Katrina... Shall we add more such masala to it. I mean, there was no bar to include anything dreadful that could happen to the US. Made by an Indian filmmaker, all Indians cast, Indian emotions forecast, why did the movie had to be so "for " the US? Was KJ trying to get an Oscar award or what? There are numerous problems that India is facing, why not showcase what’s happening to Kashmir to the world. Why not promulgate the 26/11 in Mumbai. Well, this was not the first attempt that KJ has touched a US subject, earlier he presented Kurbaan, which did not fare well, which only showed that Indians are victims to whatever happens. Forget that lets get back to MNIK, what’s new here?

The hero has an "A-Syndrome", which is the "in" thing in the Bollywood. A normal hero could not have gathered the sympathy, so add a disability to him. Hrithik in Koi Mil Gaya, Aamir in Ghazini, Amitabh in Paa and the “Mental disability” era goes on. Ok, so our hero gets to act as a Dumbo because of his Syndrome. Now do we credit such a role to be compared to any of the mentioned above. Well I heard somebody saying Mr.Khan's performance as unmatched, the best etc. Which performance, are you talking about acting like a "Dumbo"?

Ok, forget the character, let’s get back to the plot. So we see this guy trying to make his mark somewhere overseas...oops its not somewhere overseas it’s the US. So he moves into a beautiful city and tries to act like any other KJ type hero, trying to impress a girl and marry her. Finally cupid strikes and "Sajda" happens. Now enters the twist, 9/11. Needless to say, post 9/11, the NRIs have faced a few challenges. See it’s pretty simple to explain, say in India, foreigners (more dark tanned, more skilled than Indians, just for imagination) come to India, take away the jobs of Indians, create communities in the society and finally cause destruction to the indigenous resources, how would you as an Indian, the boastful Indian feel? Same is the case with the Americans too. That’s pretty natural. Now since its America, world’s richest, most powerful, there have raved a war and claimed their position.

Anyways we move further in the story, we get the next twist, the Katrina. We see this destruction and some handful people caught homeless waiting for rescue. And here our mighty hero gets to their rescue . US ke log TV mein dekthe rehthe hai jab hamara bollywood ka baadshah ghaas leke laga pada hai unhi ko bachane . Oops that’s something that I shouldn’t talk about now. And finally we see, the whole Indian community go out to help the US give food, supplies and rescue them. Now, I wonder if it can really happen.

And so finally does our "A-syndrome" hero meet the American President? While watching the movie, I really wondered if it was that easy to meet the president. And yes, we see this funny Obama look-a-like meeting Mr. Khan. I say this is the funniest scene of the movie, because by then we are exhausted of the twists and turns, moved and touched of the little boy's death, screaming for justice for Mandira and this scene comes to prove how funny again KJ can be. But a point to mention here for KJ has tugged heart strings when Mandira cries for her Aankhon ka tara...budhape ka sahara.

Ok forget the plot; let’s go back to what happened on the movie's promos:

Needless to say, the movie drew in much attention than it really should. For Mr. Khan had to speak for his Brothers there across the border which was not taken in positive attitude by the Mumbai society. For America after 9/11 there was an Afghan war, but for India after 26/11 what was there? Even after 14months we are still looking for justice to be done, or is it that a Bollywood hero would come to display the heroics and wipe out the filthy neighborhood? Why didn't the Mumbai Society raise the voice against this injustice rather than make some feeble cries against the screening of Mr. Khan's film. It did nothing but buy some sympathy and a stupendous opening collection.

So what is the result of this lawless er, flawless, emotional drama is something we have to watch out for at the Filmfares and Oscars.
