Story:

My Land and My People is memoirs of Dalai Lama of Tibet written shortly after when he took asylum in India .

After reading this book, I knew many new things such as I thought he was the main Buddhist leader in line to Buddha, but the truth is One of the kings of Tibet, many many years ago spread Buddhism in Tibet when monks from India came there to spread Buddhism. After that, they (Tibetans) considered Dalai Lamas as head of State and their supreme religious leader. The current Dalai Lama is fourteenth Dalai lama.

Now another new thing, how China and Tibet got into dispute. There were two types of Lama in Tibet, one Dalai and other Panchen. One Dalai and one Panchen lama, before this current Dalai Lama , got into dispute and that Panchen Lama sought help from China and China took advantage of this rift and started its expansionist policy in Tibet slowly and started killing their religion to expand communism.

Such was China’s torment that Dalai Lama escaped to India in very tough conditions and is living here till then.He has vividly described Tibetan life, culture and people in great detail.Tibetan people are simple and honest.Sometimes, his account brings tears in eyes while reading this book. I recommend this book and thanks for reading my review.
