IT COULD BE MY AND YOUR STORY ... Review on My Brother Nikhil

Safely say that it is the best movie by a long margin I have ever seen ?

The concept, the dignity and fluidity of the movie and screenplay is amazing and this guy Purab Kohli is mind blowing, I could be gay and live my life with him forever. That?s the first thing that comes to my mind as I venture out to write something. But then I am hit with reality easily as I come down from Balcony and see the jeering from the stalls and some other so called masculine guys who have to convince their girl friends.

It?s not a film everyone with fathom, they will scream faggots and chhaka during post interval period. And if they won?t say it openly then disguise it with slow pace, trite pacing etc. But this is a landmark film for AIDS victim and more importantly for homosexuals.

After this movie, they can say with pride and live with pride. At least they can start an attempt and importantly it will convince the family and friends to stand by the often ostracized minority in our country.

If you don?t watch the movie, I won?t say you will regret it, but you would have missed out on a most wonderful experience.

*That?s the word, its life and its almost like happening not on screen but around you ?Watch it in cinema ?its too overpowering ? Juhi, Lillete Dubey, Sanjay Suri, the guy who played Juhi?s husband and Purab Kohli, director of the movie and Yash Raj Films ? thank you for this movie ? you made me cry my worst fears out ? you made me more humane and endorsed my stand and opinion for someone around me, experience and myself.

*I thank you for this movie ? it?s the only time I have ever felt like thanking someone other than God ?

*If you don?t watch this movie with your friends in a cinema hall ? you would have truly missed out on a most cherished experience ?.I feel relieved, lighter and for some strange reason happy and stronger ? thanks Yash Raj Films and Juhi Chawla without whose support this movie would not have been made ?.

*And to all those who will see the film with only one perspective and thats the gay angle ..

It would not have mattered even if the main protagonist was not gay.

Get some ideas in real life other than slotting people as gay and not gay even if it were true its not the end of the world ... and now don?t ruin the movie with that puerile talk as if being gay is huge earth shattering issue, at least some around you are gay if you cared to find them and they could be really close and special to you ...

*The movie is about human emotions, standing for your friends and more importantly think about letting other live and cherish love ... and togetherness.

Its over 10 hours from now ... and the movie is still besotted in my mind like some prick which refuses to go away ...

When I say it could have been my story ... its not just ''me'' I am referring to ... its you or anyone else ... it could indeed be my brother, friends or relative or me ... I hope you got the me here ... and it is a pity that I have to explain this ... but probably after watching this movie you will realize what standing up, taking a proper stand and being with the right means all the more in today?s context.

The defining moment of the film is just about 10 minutes before the end ... when Purab Kohli helps a weak Sanajy Suri stand on his feet and feel the waves that he once rode ...

The way Sanjay Suri exudes weakness and gratitude and the way Purab Kohli brings pain, loss and strength all at once... and then camera oozes back to their more happy days on the beach ... Just hits the idea of loosing someone slowly in front of you like a hammer on your head ...

There are more brilliant features like the moon lit conversations of sister and brother ... they look authentic and poignant and Juhi Chawla ... god she is a damn damn competent actress ... She has just breezed life , grace and freshness into the whole ambience ...

Lillette Dubey is stupendous as well ... she has the most difficult role of mother ... who cant stand for her son because of her husband and cant live with her husband due to her son ...

The new director if he does not win best director and lillete dubey/ purba kohli best supporting actors ... juhi and sajay suri best actress and best actor ... it will be a real tragedy ...

But the challenge would be getting people to watch this, so I have copied and pasted the first post of this thread to my friend circle ... I request you to do the same ... 29 people in balcony is hardly any audience at all .... And the movie I dont like because of its issue or stand it takes but because it is a well made movie.

And God! may never ever any gay or AIDS victim be a victim from any verbal assault from any human being ? Amen ?

And well those who ostracize them, make them gay overnight or something so that they know what it is to hear gay and chhakka all the time.
