Versatility among all things is something that has kept Anu Mallik going for years within all the accusations of plagiarism in his works . Even though he is well known for ripping off songs directly from english pops, he still manages to prove his mettle by climbing the top of the popularity charts with his songs every now and then. He manages to appeal the classy music lovers with songs like those from ''Refugee'', ''Virasat'' and ''Border''and along with that he manages to win the hearts of the masses with songs like those from ''Ajnabee'', ''Biwi no.1''or ''Chori Chori Chupke''and many more.

The album ''Munna Bhai M.B.B.S'' once again proves the versatility of this talented music director whose music from ''L.O.C'', which has a music similar to that of ''Refugee'', for which Anu had won the National Award ( even though he might not be able to do the same with ''L.O.C.''), is creating waves. Astoundingly, the music of ''Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.'' has a music that is totally different from that of L.O.C. and caters to a completely different section of music lovers. Even though this album is no contender for a National Award , it surely is going to woo the popularity charts for quite some while ( even though people will not listen to it couple of years from now as they will, to albums of the likes of ''Refugee'').

  1. The first song ''Apun Jaisa Tapori'' starts with a dialogue by Sanjay Dutt in his tapori style and then the song starts after a chorus as ''Hayla kya surat thi....''in Vinod Rathore's voice. This is one talented singer who hasn't been singing too many songs lately but this song might push him back into the limelight. Those of you who have heard the songs from the movie ''Mast'' can observe the uncanny resemblance of this song with ''Puchho na yaar kya hua...''. Vinod Rathore's voice so aptly suits Sanju's voice that the intermittent dialogues in between the song by Sanju blend very well with the song. The music is catchy and the lyrics by Abbas Tyrewalla, of Love ke liye Kuchh bhi Karega and Dum fame,is funny and entertaining. A song for the masses which you will enjoy when you are along with your friends.

  2. Grasp your hearts tightly cause this song will attempt to steal it away. ''Chhan Chhan'' is a sweet melodious romantic number which is going to be appreciated by people of all ages and all classes. This song , sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Vinod Rathore, flows as smoothly as the stream of a river and has occasional waves and splashes in the form of Vinod Rathore's voice which further adorn the song. The lyrics is by Rahat Indori and is as cute as the music of the song. This song appears to be an odd-man-out in the thread of peppy numbers that this movie has, but then again, this song also forms the Jewel in the Crown of this album. Shreya Ghoshal again manages to bag the best song in the pack.

  3. Sunidhi Chauhan is turning out to be the able heir to the throne of Alisha Chinoy, the Queen of sexy and sensuous songs. ''Dekh le'' is a typical item number rendered in Sunidhi's voice which somehow reminds you of certain item numbers by Sandeep Chowta for Ram Gopal Verma, such as ''Khallas'' from Company. This number will go well with the masses. Sunidhi Chauhan's ability in bringing sensuousness in the song deserves an applause. Anu Mallik and Sunidhi Chauhan manage to blend into the song, a slight bucolic hue with smoothness in the portion ''Saiyaan.....Khusiyonke thaam ke baiyaan'' which somehow makes the song more sensuous. The song also has a faster remix version with Anu Mallik singing ''Sexy Eyes'' in the background which reminds you of Whigfield's ''sexy eyes''. Plagiarism again...but still likeable.

  4. The next song is the title song of the movie ''M Bole to....'' rendered in the voice of Vinod Rathore. This song shows the least creativity. The song has a music which you will feel like you have heard a thousand times in the last two decades in umpteen movies starring Sanju or Govinda or both. But since you have heard that music a thousand times without revolting, there's no harm in listening to it one more time.

  5. The last song of the album ''Subah ho gayi Mamu'' again has quite some resemblance with the songs ''Kalu Mama'' from ''Satya''and ''Aslam Bhai'' from ''Love ke liye Kuchh bhi Karega''. Even though it is not a total rip off, it certainly is heavily inspired by these tracks. The lyrics by Abbas Tyrewala is funny once more and is entertaining. This song is fun to listen in Guy gatherings and will appeal to the masses. The surprising factor in the song is the voice of Shaan which is unusual and sounds more like Vinod Rathore. A praiseworthy attempt by Shaan to modulate his voice such that it fits that of Sanjay Dutt.

On the whole, the songs of this album are entertaining but lack creativity and are heavily inspired by the style of Sandeep Chowta.
