Welcome to the world of secret operatives. Where secret agents are not as smooth as 007 nor are like the CIA operatives. These people are small, humane yet deadly-they are from MOSSAD one of the world's most leathal intelligence agencies. The plot is based on the events that followed the assasination of 11 israeli atheletes by a group known as BLACK SEPTEMBER which was known as the more agressive part of the PLO and as per the story was one of the founding parents of Hamas. The Israel government prepares for counter measures and assigns Eric Bana to lead the group that will eliminate the leaders of Black September who had planned the attack. What follows is a chain of events that lead to the group travelling all over europe seeking and killing their targets. The movie is set from 1972-1979. Director Steven Spielberg has taken up the case of the jews and presenting the oppression faced by them(Shiendler's List) but what's more remarkable is his ability to present case of both sides, albiet the other side's(Arabs/PLO's ) side is just a shade of what the main lead does but then presented extremely well. Also how the secret agents/field operatives live in constant fear as they put themselves in harm's way and by doing so endanger not only themselves but also their families. Stellar performance by Eric Bana as the brooding protagnist. We also get to see the future James Bond Daniel Craig who does his bit with panace, but personally don't think he would be able to match Pierce Brosnon. This movie for some reason shows why the world is where it is today and why. As the fight for the promised land continues, the people who work for what seems to be a just cause find themselves increasingly insecure.
