Mumbai need your help Mumbaikar’s lets do it

It has always been an attraction for the tourists to come to Mumbai, RAINS. People from across the world come to see this festival called “Rains “in Mumbai. As it is true, that every coin has 2 sides & that everything has a positive & a negative effect to it.

Even rains have a negative effect & a positive effect to it. Positive is that it gives relief from the killing Summer & makes earth a bit better place to live on after the sweaty summer & also gives a ray of hope for the farmers for their crops & earn their living. Now for the other side of the coin(Rain) is too much of water all over, Road blocks, Traffic Jams and finally FLOOD.

Recently, just 96 hrs back Mumbai faced something almost similar to a flood. It all started on 26th July morning, when the rains started to get more than a drizzle to raining like cats & dogs.

The entire place was becoming like a swimming pool, nobody could assume that it will turn into such a bad situation in no time. By early afternoon roads started to get submerged, then it was the turn of the vehicles to give up & stop running. As the water level was raising & had reached the engine level, then it started to rise higher & higher to reach inside the societies, its next visit was to the houses on the ground floor & then some places it was till first floor.

By this time the entire city life had come to stand still, by 3pm the trains stopped & the news reached the offices, people then started packing to reach their respective homes and be with their families & keep them safe from this upcoming disaster, but as you all know that when the nature hits back no one, I mean no one can do much in it. This is what the scene was on that day. Some people tried to get through the water blockages on the streets & manage to cross over, but after they had crossed over the water clogs they didn’t have the energy to walk even a step further. The water level had gone too high & vehicles like maruti800, Taxi’s, Sumo & even the buses were to be left alone in water as it had reached inside. At some places the water level reached upto 12 to 15 feet’s. By this time a lot of roadside animals were floating dead, the animals like buffalos, cows which were tied in their shed also died there only. There was no mode of transport available and worst of all was the network jam of the service providers(Mobile phones). There was no way anybody could even get in touch with their families to inform or pass on the message that they were fine & safe.

As it always happens, during the monsoon season there are landslides and the same was repeated this time also. In most of the slums on the hills or the reclaimed lands, there were landslides & many people lost their lives & homes. Some of the residents went ahead to save the people in need & in the mean while lost their family members. This continues to happen still after 96hrs of that terror that struck Mumbai city.

The government had announced that they are ready for the monsoon with their Disaster plans all in place for it, but I guess someone forgot to tell them that the plans are suppose to be implemented & not to be kept on the white paper with a Stamp, Seal & Signature, but what is gone is gone. No one can get back the things that people have lost in these 96hrs of terror, it could be someone life, money, house, vehicle or for that matter anything.

My request to all is that in such kind of situations the only help you can expect is from another human being & no one else, coz for me it is going to be another political issue for the ruling & the opposition parties to ask for votes in next elections. So lets come out & help the needy & safe our fellow citizens in all the possible ways we can & lets not expect any help from any official. So dear friends, I would like to repeat that, we Mumbaikars can do it on our own & we will make it happen. “EACH ONE SAVE ONE” is the call for the day.

Pros: - If you help someone today, next time someone will help you when needed.

Cons:- I don’t see any cons in doing so.
