I am posting a review after a long time... This one is on Multiplexes in general...

My latest obsession:

Of late I've become a hardcore movie buff.... I have watched lots and lots of movies in the past 1 year...You may call it the hostel effect!! gosh! its so addictive!! We students in the hostel generally watch movies, a lot of it, in our or a friend's laptop utilizing an external speaker plus we have the lights off to give a theater-like feeling... But I, like every other movie-buff, tend to believe that watching a particular movie in a cinema theater is an altogether different experience and nothing can replace the joy of watching a good movie in a theater!!

The decision to watch the movie:*

Hence we often venture out to the movie hall nearby to watch a new movie... So on "that" fine morning(or evening) you spread the newspaper and check out the theaters featuring that film... You decide upon on some multiplex nearby and go there to buy the tickets...

Multiplexes now seem to have replaced its older parent version Cinema theater.. the new thing about a multiplex is that it screens more than 1 movie, obviously in different and smaller "mini theaters"

*The price you have to pay:

*Now, that you have decided where to go and have reached the place, you ask the person on the counter forĀ  2 tickets and the corresponding cost of the ticket and lo and

behold!! the hard-earned cash in your pocket pulls a khizer zoshe

act... "puff!!" and its gone.. it vanishes just like that...

You take out the cash from your pocket and hand it over to him without any arguments or bargaining (unlike what you do for the vegetables in the market for measly 2 or 3 rupees).. Thats irony for you!!

General notions:

One is made to believe that it is a status quo and a part and parcel of this city(society) life, i.e. to spend so much.. and you cant live in this, despicable may I add, society if you disagree to accept it as a norm... This, according to me, is one of the most ugliest blemish in this so called "Urban Culture"... Why can't people realize that it is their willingness to spend an extortionate money for everything and anything is what is encouraging people charge more than the product's worth!!

Money Money Money:(don't I sound like donald trump)

They say that the multiplexes make more money than most of the stars who actually act in the movie, probably even more than Jhonny Depp and Tom Cruise... It has become a very lucrative business... Nothing wrong with doing a business which pays lots of dividends... But my sole complaint is that these guys do not provide the customers their money's worth... No!! They simply don't justify the high costs!! Almost everyone will agree to this point that I am making...I am not talking about the tickets alone... Now, take for example the popcorns available there... Whats so special about them(price ranging from 35 to 55)...I ask why?? why so much?? You get the same amount of popcorns, with similar taste and quality for just Rs 5... I'm not saying that they need to give away the popcorns free... but yeah!! its damn costly alright...

Single screen to the rescue:

More often than not it is these single screen theaters(god bless them) that come to my rescue. Although this is transient as most of the single screens are being rebuilt into another one of those multiplexes...

*What are we supposed to do:

*How the heck should I know... being a movie buff this is going to be difficult to say...okay here I go.... Taking a drastic step like not watching movies(guys!! let me complete the sentence) in a multiplex can help, I think...

*On a positive note:

*I am not totally against multiplexes. they do have certain advantages over single screen theaters. Apart from enhanced viewability one of the major plus point of a multiplex is that they provide the viewer a greater choice of movies to watch. The viewer is also provided with the comfort of picking a time agreeing to his convenience with optimized flexibility for the same. This is mainly because of more number of screens per multiplex.

ok!! I end my review here(sorry, that it was posted on a wrong section - I know that I might get some nu's for that... but I couldn't help it)... bye for now... meet you in in the RCC(comments) column!!!
