A lot of people don't know who this guy is, but he deserves a lot of credit, he was one of the most creative directors, or I would say one of the best known painters on a cinema canvas, but mukul anand is a hindi film director He has directed amitabh's natinal award winning film Agneepath.

Born in bombay maharasthra, in 1951 his full name is mukul sudheshwar anand, he's a nephew of inder raj anand who used write dialogues for hindi films for such films as jaani dushman ( the old one), yehi hai zindagi, nagin, amitabh's kaalia, etc and wrote scripts of many films shahenshah, raj tilak. I think the film director tinnu anand is also related to them somehow.

His first film was called kanoon kya karega, starring suresh oberoi in the lead role, the film did average business and mukul anand got his first filmfare award for the most promising director of year award for filmfares. The films succeeds in reproducing the chilling atmosphere of this famous story of hardened criminals who wants revenge from the lawyer who has sent them to jail. This film is worth a watch, great direction in this one. The film is copy of a english film called cape fear a old black and white hollywood film. The film had danny as the villain, danny is sent to prison by suresh oberoi and wants revenge from him he gives one hell of a performance.

HIs second directed film was called aitbaar, which was a another hit aitbar dealt with husband's suspicion about his wife having affair and he plots to get her killed, but in the end his plan gets screwed up and the husband get's caught. aitbaar stars raj babbar and dimple kapadia, and danny denzongpa as the police officer who investigates dimple kapadia's death, danny gets a complete change over in his role , aitbaar was one movie that kept audiences on the edge.

Next was main balwaan starring mithunda, which was flop, then came sultanat with sunny deol, dharmendra, sridevi, juhi chawla, the movie was average the movie had great camera work, fight scenes capturing the desert and has one of the best battle scenes. Sunny deol gives a very good performance along with dharmendra.

Next was insaaf with vinod khanna, vinod khanna had left the industry in 1981 to become a monk in oregon usa, but when khanna came back in 1985 didn't have lucky in bollywood gave mostly flops then mukul anand signed him for insaaf which was a hit movie. In the film he made vinod khanna look like a gangster, and mukul loves the color white, where khanan wears white suits in the film, so as amitabh in agneepath. Suresh oberoi also part in this film, insaaf brings shakti kapoor in his first comedy performance as inspector shinde. Dimple kapadia also gives good performance. There were good fights an interesting love story and a tale of a man who goes up against everything in the name of his beliefs, he make audiences accept vinod khanna again after all the years of his absence from bollywood.

Then after this he gave two flops izatdaar, with govinda and dilip kumar and maha sangram again with vinod khanna. Then he shook hands with amitabh and gave three hits in a row. 80's was the worst for amitabh with such flops like inquilaab, ganga jamuna saraswati, mein azaaad hun, toofan, jadoogar, Amitabh and mukul came back with agneepath, which is one of my favorite movies of all times.

What I liked about agenpaath is it's not quite the same story as scarface, he just took some scenes like the introduction of bachnan is similar to al pacino's in scarface and the restaurant scene, one of the best scenes in the film was the small kid in the begining of the film pulling a cart with his dead dad on it, and danny's going in the car splashing mud at the boy , and danny looking out of the window and laughing, one other scenes is when amitabh goes to meet danny the first time and walks out of the water with a white suit on. How he makes amitabh change his voice in agneepath was quite different. Amitabh gets a national award for his performance.

Next film was hum, starring amitabh, govinda, rajnikant and danny of course, Hum is about a older brother player by amitabh who leaves the world of crime, and wants his younger brothers to be educated. The main thing of the movie should love between a family, in which I think the director of hum aapke hai kaun got thr idea of making a family movie. The other thing was danny's performance as bakhtawar which deserves all the praise it could and amitabh winning a film fare award for best actor, even kimi katkar acts in this film.

Next was khoon ka karz with vinod khanna, sanjubaba, rajikant, kimikatkar which was an alright movie with good performances it's kind of similar to the new hollywood film called 4 brothers. Next was khuda gawaha another hit film the role of nagarjuna was made for sanjay dutt, but sanju had his jail problems at that time, The story of this film in afghanistan in 1970's in a village one clan is ritual combat with another to snatch a goat carcass and bring it back home, good horseback work. danny also got a supporting actor award for this film.

The next film was trimurti, produced by subhash ghai and directed by mukul which was a big flop, only good thing abotu the movie was anil kapoor's performance but earlier that role was made for sanjay dutt.

His next was film called dus with sanjay dutt and salman khan, unforunetly he died when the film was about half way done of a heart attack. the movie never came out but in 2005 another film came out with the same name.

This director deserves to be in the top 10 directors of bollywood, should have gotten his dues, but never did.

His favorite actor was DANNY DENZONGPA.
