Last year around September I visited my friend who is staying in Mysore. He suggested a trip to Muduamalai forest which is around 1-2 hrs drive in a car/jeep from Mysore. We took his jeep and headed towards the Nigiris(Ooty), On the foothills of Nigiris, the forest cover is called the Mudumali Forest.

We reached there to the sanctuary, there we can either hire their bus or jeep or elephant and they are not entertaining private visits. We took the bus ride, the lady luck has to smile upon you to see more wild animals, on that day we happened to see only a few elephants and Bisons. The bus was not going deep into the forest, I heard that if you go to the place where there is stream of river or water all the wildanimals like tiger, cheetah could be seen drinking the water in the morning or at the sunset, that would be a lovely treat to watch. But nowadays the authorities are preventing to go into that area..[might be veerappan scare :)] The whole region from the sanctuary to Mysore is the forest cover, we thought we had seen many animals on the way than at the sanctuary.

Few tips while driving in the Night: If You see a group of elephants and bisons which will cross the road in the night, so please be patient and put your headlights to dip status or they might get afraid and harm you. Be careful with any elephant moving lonely without mingling in a group, that might be dangerous one.

Even if you see animals or not you will definitely enjoy the place. Happy sight seeing.
