''The noblest instincts, the purest sympathies are persecuted, slandered and if at length two poor souls do meet, all is so organised that they cannot blend together'' -

Madame Bovary

Mr & Mrs Iyer in the backdrop of extremism is sizzling romance at times wavering between sympathy and emotion.Meenakshi and Raja Chowdry travel (to Calcutta) when curfew breaks out. Meenakshi saves his life when hindu fanatics come butchering muslims (Raja Chowdry being so). She gives him a new name ''Mr Iyer - Mani Iyer'', till the end of the journey the identity is maintined.

During the course of the journey Raja and Meenakshi share moments, where each feel the need of the other and in times of need, the emotions play and they are so endearing that one wishes it to be still picture.

As far as the picturisation is concerned, it is exquisitley done, even the little things are paid attention to, the most moving scene being the specks and tooth of the Old muslim man in the gentle flowing river- the remnants of togetherness- and the

mist covered mountains, the forests in the evening all speak of a subtle relationship. The team deserves a praise.

Zakir Hussain has done his best - the music captures the mood, both of the romance and Violence.

Konkana Sen and Rahul Bose have rendered a natural fervour to the whole movie- the others, especially the baby, deserve praise as well.

The unspoken words between Meenakshi and Raja still linger when they arrive at the destination (calcutta). Meenakshi introduces Raja to her husband and then... Raja Leaves with those unspoken words still lingering on, like those mist covered mountains which though beautiful will not last long.

The journey has come to an end, has it ? What about those photographs- I mean memories...
