A lot has been written about the Mozilla Firebird 0.61 and I tend to agree that since I started using it, Internet Explorer has become absolute of my PC.

Internet Explorer is the default browser of most people and generally people would not want to deviate from it.

I myself have been using IE for almost all my life and had never thought of changing my browser, but recently I came across Firebird and for just time pass I downloaded it. The best part about this browser is that you don’t need to install it….just unzip it to a folder and presto you can start using it.

Initially it was a little difficult to getting used to it and I used to alternate it with IE. The more I started using it I realized hell this software is too good.

Tabbed Browsing: it’s the best; it allows you to open Web sites inside tabs that are kept in the same window, instead of new windows. Does not clutter up your taskbar and is really useful if you like to keep a dozen windows open. Once you go tabbed browsing, you will never go back.

Firebird has the most effective Popup blocker with no additional software needed to install. Cookies, and other similar JavaScript nuisances, like status bar spoofing can also be disabled.

Firebird is highly customizable and you can go ahead and customize it to your liking.

There are a number of themes available, which can be downloaded free. You can change the buttons, menu, window etc.

Mozilla Firebird is also tweakable. You can edit your user profiles to define and tweak a lot of properties, which you would not ordinarily be able to do.

Edit the user.js or all.js file in the Mozilla folder, and change the value in this line. This one makes a huge difference in your browsing speed.

Change the last value in milliseconds, from the default of 250 to 0.

user_pref(''nglayout.initialpaint.delay'', 0);

Enable http pipelining by changing these values in the same file:

user_pref(''network.http.pipelining'', true);

user_pref(''network.http.proxy.pipelining'', true);

user_pref(''network.http.pipelining.maxrequests'', 100);

Firebird is extremely fast after you make changes in these values.

For more tweaking tips go to,

The current version of Mozilla Firebird is just 6.8 MB, download it here,

Go ahead and try it, there’s nothing to lose.

Believe me once you try it you wont remember that there was ever a browser called Internet Explorer.
