If you ask me how was Mouthshut covered on CNBC? I would say 10%. 90% focus was on Faisal and rightly so because the show was meant to focus on him. I don't get the point behind reviewing this thing on MS, I feel it makes no sense whatsoever in product, advice or entertainment (which is MS favorite category).

Any ways Young Turks as they name it. It was my first such experience of watching and listening from the CEO of MS. I would say he did well to convey things he meant about the site, his approach and overall business model.

Honestly the interview had nothing new to offer. It talked about MS, consumer reviews. History and the way Faisal turned the Dotcom bust and done well even in that. Considering this MS has done well and the CEO definitely deserves honors and pat on the back.

CNBC with the kind of questions they put were clueless about many things. That’s what my first observation about the questions was. They already termed MS as a ‘online market research’. This is where I felt Faisal had a miss. MS no matter being a grand forum for expressing personal opinions on products and all but once again It hasn’t been a influencer of mass opinion.

The benefit the consumer is getting in the loop is so far unachieved. Like I buy a product and I don’t like it thanks to many faults in it. I review the same on MS. What happens then? Does anything change? No it doesn’t. Actually the review posted on this forum has to help the consumer in 2 ways. 1) The manufacturer listens to him/her and others who read are benefited with the experiences. Unfortunately the 1st point hasn’t been given any importance. We bluntly post reviews and more reviews. Our experiences about products and services and provide a feedback which can be really handy to the producers of them to improve and serve us better. Nothing happens.

ICICI BANK or TIMES continue to rule there respective industry segments despite getting 2 star and hardly any recommendations from MS users. This is where Faisal gave a very diplomatic answer saying that “Consumer is King”. I feel consumer isn’t a king or something unless something really changes. A Market Research is purposeful and reaches the companies.

What I would rather like to have from the CEO to clear is the approach they have for not only valuing the opinions and feedbacks but also putting them to apt use. It was nice to know about a 29 year old young entrepreneur.

MS today is a mix of product review site and other superfluous reviews. How can be a consumer is a king? Thanks to reviews like 5 best and 10 best is hard to predict. I feel the approach and the business model is perfect but what needs to be added to this is transparency and may be a somehow sharing the benefits in monetary or other terms with the users.

The talks about selling out MS sent lot of confusing signals but thankfully was handled well that MS needs partners who keep the state of members and their review writing skills the way they are. Hopefully MS remains interactive and addictive as it is.

I think overall that interview was politically correct and needed.
