Lessons from Pooja. Review on MouthShut Community Center

Pooja and I became friends because of MouthShut. We have never met. We have never talked to each other. We are no different than you. We are a part of this community center.

I have given a couple of soporific lessons in the past. Thought it was about time I learnt lessons from one of the best on MS - Pooj! So here is a glimpse of some of the lesson sessions we have had:

Lesson 1:News & Member News

I don't really check the news but then Pooja says -''The News section is like a summary of the site and is regularly updated with latest news, happenings at MS and new features are added. She adds that she likes the 'MouthShut Links' column on this page with MS advice, Guidelines for Star Writer and mails from Faisal and Aarti. She is not sure if she understands the importance of old contests there.

My take(literally mean taking lessons from Pooja): News section can prove helpful when returning after a long absence. It also helps to check this part in the Community Center just to keep up to date.

About the Memeber News, we both are stunned to find so little news from thousands of members. Why don't you share your news with us? Are we not worthy enough?

Lesson 2:Current Contests

I don't contest. The greatest prize for me is to be a part of the community :-). Well, Pooja keeps track of all the contests and informs me about the two current contests - the Dubai contest wherein the member has to write in 10 reviews (how can u Pooja?) between April and June and the restaurant contest wherein the member again has to write 10 reviews on restaurant. She insist that one should participate in such contests but look who's talking! (She herself ain't doing 10 reviews in these 3 months leave the 10 on restaurants itself).

However, she remembers that we had received a mail from Aarti regarding the best few profiles which were supposed to be put up (around May 1-10th). She is still waiting for some news from Aarti on the same.

My take: Aarti, a mysterious woman is also very grotesque. She insisted members to add their real picture (bechara Suyog) but I wonder why she wants to stay an exception. Why not have her picture on her profile?

Lesson 3:Hall of Fame and Best Debut

No lessons from Pooja on this one. We both are equally baffled by the so-called mystery, SORT Technology. Pooja wants it to be a mystery so that it doesn't loose its charm. She finds it extremely inspiring to see her picture up there in the Best Debut and Hall of Fame.(Well, Pooja I will never be there, so you can say more about it. Why? A secret to me was revealed by someone who told me that one must log in every 24 hours to be in that list and I can't log in on weekends :-(). We both feel that its a great place for the beginners. New comers should check out the reviews by those on these lists. I must point out that once I had seen our Faisal sahaab's pic in the Hall of Fame.

My take: Best Debut are for the best lot among the newcomers. A list of Star Writer was supposed to be published. Looks like promises are made to be broken.

Lesson 4:Hot Reviews

What is this? Is this a list of reviews on hot topics or hot food(hot dog?) or something really hmmh.. ummh..ummh! Pooja explains that this section has shown a marked improvement as she does see new reviews coming up with regular updates. Many feel the controversial reviews should not be listed here (you know whom we are talking about).

My Take: If they take up controversial reviews in this section, they will soon see only controversies on MouthShut and thereby distrupt the harmony of the community.

Lesson 5:Member flagged and Mouth Sealed

I agree with Ranjran (Ranjith) that these two categories can be combined. Use different color code for the different meaning. Pooja sees the positive side as she says that there are few members here ..flagged or sealed due to Copyright violation, Member harrassment etc but she hasn't seen all the members who post copied reviews getting flagged. Perhaps, they get a 2nd chance.

My take: An incident where 2 veterans were ridiculed by Jasmine (miss her photo too or is she afraid that she will be attacked by a lover boy) will remain in my memories for a long long time. I won't dig graves but I am sure you know whom I am talking about. Coincidentally, one of these veteran had raised fingers on this SORT technology and now almost all the fingers are being pointed to this enigma.

Lesson 6:HELP Center/FAQs

Pooja applauds this section. A complete Help corner in all forms. Members who have missed out the Site tour can go through this section.

My take: I have not used it so far and may not use it in future too. Thanks to numerous members of my community for the help rendered from time to time.
