Let My.Space Mouth.Shut remain. Review on MouthShut Community Center

I am distressed. And I mean it. No! This is not a farewell review. I love MS, rather loved MS too much to actually leave it. I am not here to gather some sympathy from others to put on with the site. Its on me whether I remain or whether I don’t remain on the site. But yeah, few events have made me sad, and its nearly forcing me to change my opinion of MS all over again.

I began my phase with MS with kinky hatred for it. But that hatred soon vanished and became love for it. Thanks to faisal and aarti for it. And slowly it became an addiction. I never wrote for points, and I never really bothered about being a star writer at all. I write because I love to write, and Moutshut has helped me regain my skills in writing. I began building a community here. After a year at MS, I have made some wonderful friends, whom I am NOT going to lose, whether or not MS remains. I have been communicating with so many friends off –line, and we have one thing in common, MS is not what is used to be. And the past events only solidified the facts. Why am I distressed? Well read on.

Biased Outlook?

I don’t know, I am now finding that the outlook of MS employees is quite biased and prejudiced. I read the response by Jasmine on Loverboy4u_17 today morning, and was shocked. A website which proudly acclaims to believe in ‘customer is the king’ is now behaving rudely. I found the reply rather rude to say the least. There was no need for any of the people to be so rude on the site. I am not supporting Rahul or anybody here, but it doesn’t really look good for so good an impression created by faisal and aarthi to fade off so quickly.

I have always stressed that reviews should be written objectively and nicely. There is no need to go overboard with some extravagant stupid details on a review. Ever read when Sanyogeeta blasted India in her review and the response she got for it? Same thing happened with Bangalore too. No one likes hear some utter bull-sh*t written about their homes. Obviously, such reviews generate unwarranted heat, and only create bickering on the site. But what’s the worst part of the whole episode? Two of the best writers ( I mean it…check their reviews…they are far better in quality than the ones on Bangalore) are flagged, and one being threatened to cut off! Wow! That’s something. If that is the case, a moron like imran should have been banned from MS long ago for his absolutely stupid reviews on anything concerning India. I am sure, there were hundreds on MS who didn’t like what he said. What happened then? Was MS quiet just because they want to have some ‘international ‘ community on the site?

The Star Writer Advantage

I have never believed in this star writer policy and even now think its something useless. On a medium like MS, no one is better writer than anyone else, unless of course he happens to be Salman Rushdie! So whats the point making some people star writers? I believe each one of us should be treated equally. Of course, if star writers are to be made, make people who “Contribute” to the site, rather than people who come once in a blue moon, create a controversy and then hibernate for another 2 months? There doesn’t seem to be a valid star writer policy on the site, which is obviously going to make some writers who contribute regularly left out and some who don’t deserve it are made! On top of it, the photograph rule is something which amuses me. How in the world is MS going to verify if the picture I put up on the profile is really me or not?! It could be anyone, my brother, my friend, and well….!!

We saw a lot of controversy regarding the Star Writers policy too. Well, I don’t know, but at-least half of them have some valid comments, and it would be beneficial if the MS employees make a effort to make their star writer policy more believable. I am not one of the guys who believes that there is actually a board meeting and 3 people choose star writers!!!

The farewell reviews!

Oh come on! How could people be so kiddish! The barrage of people writing farewell reviews was the most amusing thing to happen on the site. People threatening to leave just because they didn’t like someone’s comment and what nots. To top it all, we have even “Star Writers” who are known to manage companies of repute and acclaim, falling into the sympathy band-wagon! What a farce really! That was something that really put me off for days together. I come to MS not see false pride, but to enjoy. So cant we all just enjoy being ourselves on the site. Really, what is there to be taken so seriously on the site. If someone said that Bangalore is all hype and no content, and the some one else retorted back saying it’s the most ridiculous thing to tell, what does the other person do?! Write a farewell!!!!! Come on guys, have an attitude. We all love being at MS, lets us have healthy discussions rather than insane ones!

Hot Reviews!!

Want to write a HOT REVIEW?!!! Then better make it controversial! That’s seems to be the mantra of MS!!! So it doesn’t matter when a beautiful review on India by Just_did_it goes un-noticed, but certainly a controversial review should not go off the list! Why such discrepancy? The SORT technology is something which no one knows what is about. Maybe the SORT technology is intelligent enough to find ‘Oh! Therez a controversy!! Mmh! This should be on the HOT list!” Wow! Such Intelligence in their technology, that’s something! If MS really wants to promote their technology, make it believable and make it work. If the technology really works, lets see some quality reviews on the hot reviews. Making it happen will only make people believe in MS and their ideas.

Final Words

Finally, I say, I am distressed. I don’t want my close friends whom I made on this site to leave writing on this site just because of someone else’s stupid reviews. I am here to share my experiences and also share other people’s experiences at MouthShut. I like being at Mouthshut, more because of the friends I have made here, and even more because of the interest and zeal which faisal and aarthi show ( at least till now.). I want all of us to remain on the site and communicate with each other as a global community.

Of course, controversies are bound to happen, but MS should intervene at the right places, and not at some arbitrarily selected moments and their wishful thinking. If MS intervenes at the right moments, the controversy could actually be interesting and fun!

I hope MS realizes this. And I hope more than MS, people realize this. Unless we form a community, well no point writing on the community center ( I know this review is in wrong topic, but I have exhausted all my quota of MS related reviews!). And finally, if my friends leave this site, well I am still not going to leave this site. Yes, my love won’t be as much as before for MS.
