Err....Well...what was that ???
The point is managing all these application modules with a suppporting database is not easy and it comes with a cost.A good large amount of money is needed you see..
MS is not a place to store and display all the junk,non junk,good and best reviews written by any Tom,Dick,Harry and Mary,Sick and Silly.
You need money and large amount...And the means for achieving this??
To showcase MS in such a way that advertizers come to it.
Still dint get what I am upto???
Being a member of this site for almost a quarter now and reading some reviews against MS.I thought of giving a shot as to why is it that there are some things that are not like what they should be.I am considering only 3 points now which are the most controversial and much debated on MS owing to space limitations.
1. Why is it that some star writers with a pretty face are displayed on home page more number of times than the not-so-pretty star wrtiers.Why is it that some Lallupanju and iamsujai,who became star writers at almost the same time..but lallu gets on the homepage more often than iamsujai??
Why is that some afrank updates her photo to a much cuter looking one is seen more often than she used to be with her previous picture??
The answer is obvious though many would not openly agree..you see MS has to attract new members,it has to show more number of new hits, new members so that they can target more ads thereby making more money.
If someone happens to login to MS for the first time and he/she sees a pretty beautiful/handsome face on the homepage, they glue onto it and then MS surely relies more on the not-so-beautiful and handsome reviewers too who write good reviews and they ensure that people get used to the site.
Members will feel bad for this.But thats how a business is run becoz you got to make money to keep the site running.Or else if MS solely rests on the do-no-evil-to-everybody tagline , then it becomes hard to survive in this competitive world.Even a google with the do-no-evil as its punchline has its own evilish flaws.check out https://google-watch.org for criticism on google to know more..
2. Why is it that some of the controversial reviews , be it on India, be it on the movie Black or a sarkar recently is highlighted or kept on the database inspite of many users rating it as Not Useful???
Again hits , more hits.More controversy leads to more money and a separate space called Hot review seems to be reserved for this as controversial reviews are the ones which become hot just like our Mallika Sherawat.
Common everybody likes to involve in a heated debate.How many of us would comment more on a generally accepted review and less on a controversial review ???
The number is countable by fingers but the otherway round everybody is all ready to protest and keep a dharna....and this gives more publicity both to the reviewer and the site.
And controversies are not created by everybody so takers will take the other ''good'' reviews.And some more number of takers will give more hits to the controversial ones.
Back to square one..MS is a business site and it has to maintain a balance between more good with little bit of evil.
Not many Howard Roarks live up to the end to achieve success and there are no Wail Gynand's in existance either!!(These are characters from Fountainhead novel by Ayn Rand)
3. Why is it that people who write more on movies,music and songs are made Star writers earlier than those people who write on Suvs,Microwave Ovens , the DVD players over a period of time ???
Well....at a given point of time how many of us would really like to read or search for a review on some oven or a washing machine ??
Movies and music are the things that most people around the globe search more often.
So a google would give MS as its search result on a movie review more often than any other product review.
When one gets to the movie review.One would definitely check out any star writers review on movies so that it is credible,unbiased.As SWs are displayed on homepage often, it is not difficult to spot them out.
As MS has a business to run..it is justified atleast to an extent of 6-7 points on a scale of 10 to make such reviewers as Star Wrters.
This will make advertizers like INOX to come up and running to it for alliance and promotion.
However
MS has its load of evil too ,like some deserving candidates not yet made star writers.And some non-deserving candidates still finding their picture on the home page inspite of a good long number of months of being inactive on the site.
While some well reputed writers being flagged for first time ''offence'' and some hopeless member being spared to an extent that it came to to the neck.
Because of space limitations, I have just made 3 points here, any more from your side would be appreciated and acknowledged.
On a point of 10 on being completely ethical or not, I would like to give MS a 6-6.5 points,the 3.5 to 4 points need to considered keeping in mind the commercial viability to support and maintain the 6-6.5 good points that are there on MS.
And atleast I feel that it can be forgiven for such acts to what an extent, time will tell.
PS: If things are not what they are as written in my review.I would say MS authorities to elaborate on this.These views are based on my observation for a period of about 3 months
