During my 4 years of engineering life, we have frequented mount abu so often that we can ( well could is more appropriate now) relate to it as our second home. We went to abu first time just as anybody goes to a tourist attraction with usual tourist places in mind. The most fun part of visiting mount abu in off - season is bargain.

Like we had hordes of the hotel agents trying to lure us to getting a room in their hotel.. but we went around looking at hotel rooms for their cleanliness and stuff and found one perfect hotel and the most affordable one too!

Bargaining is a skill I lack in but here I thought I excelled at it!! Morning breakfast we walk out in the market, approached by two hotelwallas saying paratha 10 rs and stuff.. I tell one of them why should we come to you if he is giving in in 10 rs? Aaaand he says I will give you for 8 rs!! Now lol.. I may sound cheap but we were having fun. This hotel had a huge terrace in front of the top two rooms, where you can idle around, and the two rooms were interconnected ( ideal for us 4 friends) and not to forget just 200 bucks per day including both rooms!!

(although this was a while back around in 2003, but still 200 for two rooms!). To add to it, in the evening upon our request the hotel guy lit up a bon fire on the terrace where we lazed around with booze enjoying the cool environment around us with some paneer tikkas!! Add to it, your drunk friend running out of hotel crying out for his mom " mummy I love you" and then running straight into a parked amassador!!

Well, off the hotel topic, we had a good sleep that night and next morning we decided not to hire any jeeps or taxis but walk along upto delwara temples on the road, and trust me, this walk was one of the most enjoyable parts of the visits we have made to abu. After reaching delwars temples, one of my friend gave up the idea of walking anymore and said why can' t we get a ticket in a bus and get to all the places conveniently! ( he kinda liked on of the gals travelling in the "particular" bus he told us to get a ticket in) but 3 against 1 is a poor chance to get thing done your way.. So we continued our hike/ trail / walk towards the peace park and boy that was a long walk!! considering the up slope walk and the distance it took us around 5 hours to reach the peace park, but the weather was't hot and we had our armory full of nimbu paani, sprite and jaljeera from the delwara temple shops.

When you walk your way up there you will come across some places which you never geta chance to see in the bus, like a small lake in a hidden clearing which was a beautiful and relaxing stopover for us before continuing and rabbits running around in bushes... and we spotted two snakes idling around (although none of us dared to go take a closer look). This was our first visit to mount abu where we started loving it for more than a reg. tourist place! There is so much to discover if you choose paths which usual tourists don't go for usually!  The second trip to mount abu ( no more walking here though), we went off routes at many a places, climbing hills which were not tourist spots ( not exactly climbing, trekking is more of that word). Discovered tortoise rock!! lol.. a rock that looked like a tortoise from up close. This was discovered by us !! took off route on a small broken kinda path just before the sunset point towards mountains and kept going till we reached there! Encountered some. No scratch that. A lot of monkeys on the way. Scared still climbing (cause the going back way was covered with more monkeys than in front).

Spent a whole 2 hours I think on top sitting, relaxing in the cool winds of the evening (and a sutta in such a place.
