I love hill stations and had been to few in India. The recent trip to Mount Abu in Rajasthan has been a blessing for nature lovers like me n my husband. We were a bit worried abt going there in rainy season lest rain should keep us confined in our hotel. We reached Abu road via train n started an upward journey towards Mount abu in a taxi car which are easily available at the railway station for Rs.150-200 even in early morning. Upon reaching, it was raining mildly we deceided to explore few kms around our hotel on foot.

Mount Abu is at its best during the rains. The never ending lush greenery was a visual treat for metro dwellers like us.Rains makes the waterfalls and lake bodies come alive, the weather was pleasant n misty.

We visited the major tourist attractions by hiring car(Rs 400 for about 6 hrs a day).

There were Dilwara temples which were truly magnificant even after not being properly cared for.The intricate marble carving is really worth a visit.Do remember to hire a guide for this place.

We also visited adhar devi temple, bhramakumari's, shankar math, peace park etc.

Achal garh fort is in ruins but there are few temples inside it, for that you have to climb extra few kms. On the top there was a cave , mira bai temple n chamunda devi temple. This was a place where we could not hear a single man made sound, its was lonely n desserted but very beautiful. The top view of emerald green water bodies along with lush green mountains having overhanging black clouds here n there was worth the climb. There were few shops selling good rajasthani bangles .

Guru shikar too offers breathtaking view.

The best part was boating in Nakki lake. The lake was brimming with emerald green water due to recent rainfall.Paddle boats are available (Rs. 50 for 1/2 hr).The wonderful weather made it a lifetime memory for us.(Sweettooths can try rabri at the shop outside nakki lake)

Hyped Toad rock is visible from Nakki lake and may be linked to a Toad if u please.

The black rocks of the landscape have interesting shapes, some look placed in such a way as if they are abt to topple over u with their huge size !

Due to mist, the view from Honeymoon (anadhara) point and sunset point was not at all clear.

The local market has rajasthani stuff. Bhandini dress material, bangles, rajhasthani print bed linen is what I recommend.

There are many hotels in mount abu for difernent budgets.Few resorts are also there. We stayed in Hillock hotel, it's service n food was of good standard. The delux room size is a bit smaller than what is projected on their website but overall the hotel was worth the price.

Our stay was for 2 days - 1 night. I would definetly recommend this place for a weekend getaway.

Never imagined that such a lovely hill station lies hidden in hot deserts :-)
