Mt.Abu is a home away from home hill station for Gujaratis,& particularly for Ahmedabadians.For travel loving Gujaratis Mt.Abu is the only location just 3 1/2 hrs. away.210Km away from Ahmedabad with a stop over at Way Wait,Palanpur is a ritual for us. You get the best food of all types,South India,Punjabi,Gujarati at a reasonable price & fast service expected on the highways.I recommend this place for the people travelling to Abu,Ambaji,Jodhpur,Sirohi etc.
Abu as such is a commercial place & nothing much to see as have seen so many time.Nakki lake as usual is a commercial & dirty place. I have seen all the lakes of hill station in the same position,dirty & commercial.The market is good,particularly for the handicraft items & handloom cloth.Brahmkumari has taken most of the properties in Abu so you will find lots of people in jet white clothes moving around.Sunset point,Anadra Point,Delvara,Gurushikhar,Gaumukh are the places of interest.If you are lucky and are ready to travel during night you can find leopard or bear in the remote parts of Abu.
I would put Hillock is Abu & Abu is Hillock.The best place to stay.It is located near the entry point of Abu away from commercial area.All the rooms are facing the road & the hills.Surprisingly in Abu you will not find a single hotel with a perfect view but Hillock has a reasonable view as it has got a beautiful garden with waterfalls in front and than road and than hills.The hotel is very well managed by owners.The personally look in to the day to day details and so it is very much visible in the upkeepment of the place.The rooms are very well decorated with all modern facilities.All rooms are carpeted with TV,Fridge,DVD player.The room service is excellent.Mayur,the multicusine restaurant is most popular restaurant of Abu.People staying at other places come here for food.Paneer Butter Masala & Cheese Butter Masala are the best I have eaten.The staff from the gate keeper to receptionist to room boy to waiters are very well trained and are well mannered.Hotel has indoor activity centre with table tennis table,carrom & other small activities.Swimming pool & children park are beautifully made in the garden.Hotel celebrates all the festival with right type of decor(ambience) & food.
After atleast 20-30 visits Abu is not place where we go to see anything but just to relax & so this hotel is the place ideally for relaxation.
