Anyone who has seen a few of my phone reviews around Mouthshut.com will know they are usually quite long, this one however will not be. There isn't really too much to say about this phone, very basic. Read on...

The Motorola V 2088

I'm going to start off with the phones good points, and then follow up with the bad. Then you can decide from there.

The Good Stuff

The Motorola V 2088 has one of the coolest features I have seen yet. Although it may not have different ringtones for different callers, you can set the backlight to show as Green, Red or Yellow depending on who is calling. The red is EXTREMELY DARK and looks awesome. You can also set these lights up as the default colour when using your phone, not just when someone calls.

The phone itself is very light, and very slim and looks cool. It aslo has a very long battery life which is surprising as it IS dual band and has EFR (enhanced full rate - better quality calls). You can also chuck different faceplates on, although there arent many available.

Unfortuantly, that's about all the good stuff there is on this phone, which is a real shame.

The Bad Bits

Unfortunatly, there are a lot of these...

The first bad bit, when you receive an SMS message, as with most motorolas, even if the name is in the phone book, you only get to see the number in international format (e.g. +614...). It doesnt have many ringtones, and there is no iTap/t9 predictive text input for writing SMS.

Also, the menus are basically the same as all motorolas, they dont look to good, there arent really many features on the phone.

FOr it's price you would probably expect more, but in this short review I have covered just about everything. This is a slighlty more expensive phone without the features you could be getting for your money.

My advice, go for the Nokia 3310/3330, or Ericcson T20e. I have reviews for both of these on Mouthshut.com. Check them out before making your decision.
