Moto G4 Play

Moto G4 Play is a budget smartphone which offers near stock Android version at Rs 8, 999. The G4 Play looks just like its siblings – Moto G4 and G4 Plus – in terms of design. However, this one has a smaller 5-inch display.

The pricing puts Moto G4 Play against other budget smartphones such as Xiaomi 3s Prime, Samsung Galaxy On series and more. Moto G4 Play lacks a fingerprint scanner and has a plastic back. The device has a water-repellent nano coating and is 4G-enabled. I used Moto G4 Play for a week and here’s how it performed:

Specs: 5-inch HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 | 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor | 2GB RAM + 16GB internal memory ( expandable up to 128GB) | 8MP rear camera | 5MP front camera | 2, 800 mAh battery

Price: Rs 8, 999

What’s good?

Moto G4 Play has a great design and is easy to hold. It gets a textured plastic back and silver metal rims. The smartphone has rounded edges, and Moto branding is placed neatly at the rear. Moto G4 Play looks elegant, even though it doesn’t have a metal unibody design. Make sure you buy a back cover if you pick the white colour variant as it tends to get dirty. Plus, you won’t have to worry about accidentally spilling liquids on the phone, thanks to its water-repellent coating.

The display is vivid and sharp. However, it doesn’t make for good viewing angles in bright outdoors. I had to struggle with the display in sunlight.

Moto G4 Play has a great battery life. Even though there’s 2, 8000 mAh battery on paper, the battery optimisation is great. Moto G4 Play will easily last for a little more than a day from moderate to heavy usage. Plus, it doesn’t take too much of a time to get charged.
