Is it the best budget smartphone you can buy?

Worth an upgrade from Moto G1 and Moto G2?

13 Megapixel Camera which is the same sensor that is present in the Motorola's Nexus 6 takes pretty good photos in this price range phones.

Textured back cover which makes the phone less slippery and the Motorola dimple just below the camera gives really a nice feel.

Power off switch and volume rocker both are in same side which at times turns out to be a Con if you need to take snapshot. But when compared with older Moto G devices where you often get confused with volume and power button in this mobile the power button is textured so that even in dark you can easily identify the difference. In my old Moto G2 I always get confused with volume up and power during nights in dark.

Removable back though the battery is sealed and non-user-replaceable.

Expandable memory up to 32GB memory card which is now a rare element in higher-end smartphones and flagships.

IPX7-rated water resistant and designed to withstand immersion in up to 3 feet of fresh water for up to 30 minutes provided the back cover is'properly sealed'

Pretty decent front-firing speakers but not stereo speakers that used to be in the Moto G2. Still you never get to cover them when you play games or watch video.

The best feature is the battery of about 2470mAh. This phone has an insane amount of stand by time and screen-on time of about a whooping 6hours.(Note: Am a power-user)

Very light OS without any special UI or skin running above it. Stock android lollipop experience which is upgradable to Marshmallow anytime soon and for some devices have already got updated.

Classic Motorola features like, DOUBLE-CHOP to trigger the Flash-light ON; DOUBLE-TWIST to wake up the Camera and Active Display to see all of your notifications and clock(though it's still a glitch)

LTE or 4G support which makes this a complete phone at this price point. Supports OTG as well.

Cons

-

No 4k recording and no Optical Image Stabilisation.

Outdated 1.4Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor and older Adreno 306 GPU.

720p IPS display which has poor viewing angle and dim.

Plastic body which makes you feel handling a cheap phone as most of the flagships come with metallic rails around them.

Thicker and curvier(round) than other phones and it's a bit heavier.

No dual-band Wi-Fi and has no 5Ghz Wi-Fi and AC. Has only Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot.

No NFC

It's not a big deal breaker or a flagship killer but a decent budget smartphone where you get for what you pay.

Speakers are non-stereo which use to be stereo in Moto G2.

Even my friend who owns an Apple iPhone 6S used this same phone for more than a day and gave positive comments and so I feel people who used to use budget phones so far and if this is your first smart-phone you will never be feeling any negatives and it's the best phone out there in the market today without making a hole in your pocket and with features like water resistance it will not burn your bank account if dropped in water. It is definitely worth upgrading from your older Moto G variants because of the improved battery-life, comparatively newer processor and 2GB primary memory.

Given 4 stars because the white color variant gets dirt easily and a scratch magnet. Most users prefer using a case so as to protect the new look but I suggest only for white color variant.

Sound system is really good. Its front firing. So definitely its enjoyable while playing games and videos loud. I have experienced HTC Boom speakers too but this mobile's speakers are no way lesser than those HTC speakers. Honestly, selfie camera is pretty average and it does not take great pics. Wide angle is not at all expectable from that 5megapixel front shooter. Its a dual-sim variant in India and both sims are Nano-sims, plus one can be 4G and other can be in 3G. Both cannot be in 4G simultaneously. But both can be in 3G simultaneously. Both sim is completely functional in 3G.

Bought the mobile phone for INR 10, 999
