After changing my mobile 3 times in 12 months (due to different issues) ..It was time for the next change.. I had earlier moved from legacy 3310 to the white display to color display to Flip open model ... now that its speaker had some defect .. I thought "why not a camera phone this time".

I usually am old fashioned. I use phones for making and taking calls and never really use the radio or GPRS features but was now tempted to buy one with these features built in but I'm not going to spend anything more than 5000! .... The friendly mobile-wala took me through a never ending journey of comparitive studies of Nokia Vs Moto Vs Samsung Vs some models I have never heard of. I almost purchased a nokia model before my eyes fell on the dark slim beauty in the corner. He didnt show it to me coz I was rather adamant that I wanted a phone in the 4500-5000 range .. well it was a wee bit more than 5000 (He thinks he is a wise guy HA!) ..

In a single breath he said all the features it had... GRPS Bluetooth MiniUSB interface VGA Cam with 4X dig zoom video recording MP3 ringtones calendar phonebook ....all at 5600 for black and 5100 for the silver one! Black was sexier than the dull silver one. I bought the black one.. 600 Rs over the budget.

I confess I havent used the camera or bluetooth very much but it had helped me get some very useful shots at the right times. The phone is about 8 months old now and havent given me any trouble so far except sometimes it tends to hang but restarts itself unlike my nokia butterfly.

After being a Nokia and Samsung user, it took me some time to get adjusted to the user interface of the motophone. Its good now but you'll have to spend some time familiarising with the icons and menu options.

The camera tends to cry when used at night in night mode unlike the fat babe Nokia 6600 but during day time or bright conditions, the pics are good! MP3 tones are fantastic but during playback they tend to be very weak..but if you set it as a ring tone or alarm tone it rocks!

As for GPRS , I havent used it much but browsing through Airtel live and downloading pics and tones seems to be mighty faster than what my samsung used to do.

Games are kiddish but I like them especially while travelling when you have no mood to do anything else than play some brainless games shooting down planes and submarines :D

A few things I like and dislike about the design.

Its slim!! But a little heavy. Slips easily into your jean pocket but your legs feel it in there!

The keys are at the body level and if you dont use the keypad you'll not know which key will be pressed when :X The navigation keys are a good feature but the function assignment should have been more customizable.. Again nokia phones and moto phones have same functions assigned to the opposite keys so careful.. you dont want an unfinished sms to reach ur boss's phone during a meeting. " We have your ass*et statement ready sir " Imagine the * as the point where the wrong key sends the message LOL!!

Overall I'm happy and this is a phone which is surviving the rises and falls and all other circus I do with it when im tensed happy or sad without a single major complaint. Oh and did I forget to mention that the screen is scratch proof and the phone looks as good as new even now!

Ok people.. gotta make a few calls now.. No worries coz the batteries of this slim thing really lasts long (although not as much as its old nokia uncle) but gives me decent backup and no hot ears even after consoling my buddy over his girlfriends marriage to another guy!!
