I needed a phone with a gud camera, FM or MP3 player and blue tooth...........so, after months of deliberating and reading reviews on whether I should be going for Nokia's 6600 or Ericsson's K700 I , I finally decided to go for the 6600 because of the expandable memory slot. (I dont understand y Ericsson came up with only 40MB of built in space but has decided to give 30mins of video recording........u wouldnt need that in most cases except like when u want to shoot a sequel for DPS)..............but there was one more twist in the tale.....when I took my friend to the mobile shop, he told me to look at this new phone that motorola had come up with.....MOTOROLA E398....when the guy at the shop showed me this, it instantly looked better than the 6600 or the K700i (Ericsson badly needs a new design team.....the K700i looks like a phone with the keys and the wordings later stuck on to it in a haphazard manner )........coming back to the E398, I just love the superb sorround speakers (Though I would say that the effect is unbelievable when u use the unusually-long handsfree speaker set, which by the way is free with the phone )......the joystick takes a day or two to get used but the keys are quite user-friendly......even the menus are quite user-friendly though nothing comes close to 'user-friendliest' as the NOKIA range of phones. The phone does not come with FM or IR. Most of my friends have IR but they havent found it very useful. The phone does come with blue tooth which is quite good.

The games are not so great though we can download other games from the motorola site. Some of them are not worth playing at all.The ringtones that are provided are all very borish and irritating to say the least. I still havent figured how to download ringtones from a website on to the phone.

The E398 comes with in-built flash memory of 64MB (the most in its category) for storing MP3s, pictures. It can hold upto 20 inbox and 20 outbox messages.

The camera is very good and comes equipped with 4X zoom though pictures will appear grainy after 4X zoom....but night photography is a definite no-no though the phone does come with a flash which is more useful as a torch light than as a flash for the camera.

The most interesting part of the phone is the display. We can customize the keypad to display different colors when different people call and there is this thing called ''Rhythm Lights'' which when switched on starts flashing colors according to the sorrounding music/beats.

You also get a datacable,a 64MB Trans-Flash memory card and software for copying files from computer to mobile and vice-versa. The battery is quite good when compared to previous motorola models but not quite as good as nokia's. What peeves me the most is that it take almost 3-4 hours to charge it fully when it is at a lsightly lower level. The manual is of no use .You are better finding things yourself than trust the manual. There are some minor bugs like if u want to copy files from the PC to mobile or vice-versa, at first connection with the data cable u dont get anything. you have to keep trying 2-3 times to get it.

Overall, I am pretty happy about the phone but for some minor bugs but thats all right.....
