I could not agree with Cedric more. I faced exactly the same problems which Cedric faced. Could not access my phone book, could not read or compose any SMS.
I purchased the phone from Dubai in Jan 04. And last week, it started giving me software problems. I took the phone to Moto's service centre and was informed that the warranty was not valid for India. So I had to shell out Rs. 450/- for the software upgrade. I wonder why Cedric was charged Rs. 600/-!!! Anyway after the upgrade, I thought the problem would be over.
Unfortunately, the very next day same problem appeared. I now had no choice but to dispose off the phone. I sold the phone for Rs. 5,500.00 (Mind you the shopkeeper who purchased it was not aware of the software problem, otherwise he would not have paid me more than Rs. 500/-) and bought a new Nokia 6610i.
I do not suggest Motorola phones to anyone. Go for Nokia. They are the best.
