Beware of RE-BRANDED Chinese MP3 players !!. Review on Moser Baer MP 565-2G

Just wanted to share my experience of using the new Moser BaerMP 565 2G MP3 Player released in the market.

As I planned to buy a mobile phone in the future with inbuilt MP3 player, I did not want to invest "much" for an MP3 player. Having inquired in a shop, the dealer showed me a new Black color model doowop MP 656 2G.

Surprisingly this MP3 player was made by MoserBaer and its cost was only Rs. 1250/- Though doubtful in the beginning due to low cost, I thought of buying it as Moser Baer is a trusted growing brand and I have a good experience with all its products viz CDs, DVD Writers. But this model has its own defects and bugs ..........

1) FM Radio: As soon as I opened the pack, I checked the FM Radio. When indoors it picks up only 2 radio stations BIG 92.7 FM and 104.0 FM in Bangalore. Others give unbearably large amount of hiss. The quality of FM was poor inside buses and office too. Only in playground and atop the terrace does it receive all the stations clearly. VERY POOR.

2) Battery: The so-so manual said charging for 4 hours in the beginning is enough. After charging for 5 hrs. and playing MP3 files for 45 min, one third of the charge was down ! What crap battery - it seems to last only for 2.5 hrs hardly in these days while Transcend lasts for 15 hrs!!

3) Durability: Well 2 days later, suddenly the player started to play files very slow and the whole player was hung - no button responded! Player could be brought back to normal only upon using RESET button. This problem receurred umpteen times. All these malfunctions within a week of purchase!! Later, I contacted the Customer Service - they asked me to contact the service center @ HSR Layout in Bangalore who said they don't know how to troubleshoot the unit as THEY HAD NEVER SEEN THE MODEL!!

Upon this poor response, I searched the Moser Baer URL for this model's firmware which was unavailable too. Then with Google's help, I discovered that this model MP-565-2G is available in COBY Brand too

I understood that Moser Baer buys 4m COBY, renames it and dumps it in Indian market. COBY is a Chinese brand selling average products in the US ( http://www.cobyusa.com). *Moser Baer has recently released many products viz. movie DVDs @ Rs 49 bucks, DVD Players, LCD TVs but are they all reliable?

Crap.

Only Chinese Junk.

Still there are some merits viz. good sound quality,

Beware of 3rd class Chinese Junk imported, rebranded and sold by leading brands like Moser Baer and their after sales service !!

Better go for established brands like Transcend, Sandisk, Philips or Creative (with good firmware support) available at rock bottom prices.
