I suffer from CHOCOHOLISM!

It was one of those days at work, when no work leads to conversations about the mundane and not so mundane things in our life. One topic to another, almost like butterflies flitting from one flower to another, we came to a point in conversation where we had to stop fantasizing and talk again.

We were after all, talking about the dark and sinful parts of life! Just the thought of that soft, melt in the mouth feeling as we felt the burst of flavour could make us go weak in our knees. We were after all, talking about Chocolate! (The fact that this review follows review on Chocolat just shows the withdrawal symptoms being suffered from lack of it ).

My good pal, Kamy, asked me if I have been swept away by the Chocolate Avalanche. She looked at me incredulously (and she calls herself a chocolate lover! Hrrmmppf! THAT kinda look) and said you have NEVER been to Mocha??? She really took it to heart and the very next day we were off to Mochaand I wondered what lay in store for me at this place. I had seen it a coupla times at Churchgate Station, but somehow was never tempted to walk in. But all that was about to change and how!

We went to the Bandra outlet that’s onCarter Road. As I entered, we were welcomed by this very Middle Eastern kind of look. Brightly coloured silk cushions thrown around casually on an assortment of eclectic furniture pieces. An ambience that invites you to just chill and enjoy your time there.

Our raison d’etre for that moment was this delight called Chocolate Avalanche whose essential ingredients are chocolate ice cream with chocolate mousse, chocolate sauce, chocolate brownie AND pieces of chocolate! Now if that’s not a dream come true, then what is? After sharing the Junior Avalanche (Senior isn’t for the weak hearted or the waistline conscious!:)

Ofcourse, there were a LOT more visits to happen to actually indulge and make one happy! Soon, our girls night out started ending with dessert at Mocha (dinner was ordered accordingly!). The Jamaican Blue Mountain Cake just melts in your mouth with its bitter chocolate flavour. It’s a huge triangular shaped piece of cake that can easily be shared by 2 or 3! They actually have Lindt Shake, that’s made of pure Lindt Chocolate and similar one with Kit Kat. One tall glass of that thick and frothy shake will leave you asking for more, but agonizing over how would you be able digest it.

They also have grub with stuff like paninis, rolls, French fries etc, but their taste is not all that happening. So you might as well have khaana and visit this place. And how could I forget the flavoured Hookahs they offer. Though I haven’t ever tried one, Adi told me they completely rock. So you will see lot of younger crowd smoking it away for long hours. It was one of the first places to introduce these Hookahs.

The prices, I think, are Value for Money range. Your Junior Avalanche costs you around 95bucks, your other desserts between 110-150 and the shakes are also between 100 – 200 the 200 being cost of Lindt Shake! : )

Ofcos all my info is a year and a half old, the last time when I had gone back to Mumbai, so I don’t know any changes that might have happened since then. But it’s a delightful place to go to on any evening, just bond with your buddies or share a glass of shake with your partner.

For every Chocolate Lover –“Your life on this planet is not complete without at least ONE visit to Mocha”

And for those unfortunate ones who can’t stand Chocolate, if there’s any place that could convert you for better, this is it! :p
