My journey starte from New Delhi . FIrst stop was calcutta and went straight to bara bazaar  across the cable bridge . I stayed at  a dormitory which you can find all over bara bazar. Despite being a dormitory it was safe. From calcutta I had to reach siliguri where I would be escorted to Kohima.

I was misled by one of the touts in my hotel that tickets for siliguri by train are booked for the next two weeks and I had to pay extra to get a sleeper. so , I paid him extra 200 rupees to find out later that other passengers had no problems booking / anyway reached dimapur by train at night and immediately was escorted out by army commandoes , yes I know someone in the army . next day I was part of a convoy to kohima . Again, I did not get friendly looks so did not spend much time but did get an opportunity to eat at one of their local restaurants and had pork momos which you would find all over the place. Also bought a nice chakasang shawl woven traditional style with motifs in red an white background.

Now , ater returning from kohima my longest journey was to begin. Deciding not to go through Imphal which is infested by ulfa and others, I decided to go via shillong in meghalaya. Let me tell I havent seen a more congested city except calcutta , but it is extremely beautiful, now , It was a shock for me that the ticket to Aizawl would be 500 bucks, I only had 300 left since I was supposed to collect money in aizawl. so , I decided to sell some of the goods I was carrying for aizawl in shillong, I decided to walk the market with some good quality cloth pieces. Finally, In a meat market selling beef, there wer about 100 shops with meat hanging open. A butcher became interested and bouth a couple. I was able to make my way to aizawl.

On the way, We stoped at silchar but no one came to check my permit which I had spent three days in delhi to obtain. Anyways reached aizawl through someof the most beautiful hills and clouds and homes with their own pigsteads .   After reaching aizawl , I stayed at the assam rifles guest house which was prearranged from dimapur.   The markets of aizawl carry goods from thailand and otheports. But, everything is expensive. The quality of life I found was much better than any large city. taxis are the only mode of transport . Almost all are christians. It is a small town but very busy. People are enthusiastica and welcome travellers. I found pork and chicken very common. I did go to some beautiful waterfalls and lakes aroung aizawl and met some beautiful people . People are busy in their small world, filtering in any English and western culture they like.Let me tell ya, its very very different from life in Delhi.

Though my return journey was pretty smooth since I was on a shared sumo and it was much faster than the bus which took 16 hours straight from dimapur. I would remember this journey al my life.
