Truth is harsher than fiction, sometimes fatal. Or does the bliss of a cocooned existence last forever? Nothing can hold a candle to this dilemma than the recently released flick.
With all wits it is hard to classify its genre but there are enough hilarious and mocking moments in this aptly titled movie.
It is story of an aspiring, struggling VK( Ranvir) who wants to make it big, except for menial insignificant bits here and there has not got much.
On one not so lucrative day he ends up in a scuffle with a certain X loses his coveted for the day sum. Aghast, he rushes for a bottle settles by the seaside. Before he gulps down all the frustration and feel leeway!Lo and behold he finds himself in another mess. A bloody war between men of gawky Gawde( Naseer) and Raje bhaisaab, more gunshots that leaves Raje bhai dead .Poor and petrified acting perfectly like a responsible citizen he bumps in police station and blurts it all. Things cant get worse, Gawde men do a chicken chase, all set to nail him … But this is not the end of it …he gets a lifer thanks to his resemblance with the king pin Raje Bhai .
With a little training and complete ignorance, he steps in raje bhai shoes and suit. But can he fit in them, obviously not the dead were a definite death knell and he is tame actor …
How does he get out of this, if at all.?Does he actually want to get out?
The movie reminds me of the famous story the fall of Icarus.Henry Deplis who bore on his back the tattoo “Fall of Icarus” last masterpiece of ingenious sculptor Andreas Pincini. An inevitable confusion of ownership was born .What ensued was a little short of war for possession between the two countries. Deplis got so used to being the object of envy, pride, passion and political parleys, he harbored the notion of being one of the missing arms of Venus De Milo long after his art was ruined in an acid attack. An urge to live in a myth soon overwhelmed the yearning to get free
So happens with VK….
The movie moves from rib tickling, nerve irking humor to serious, smothering desperation.
Ranvir Shorey out smarts every body even the script. He comes across brilliantly switching gears from a timid, dreamy struggler to all stuck, supposed don and then to his usual self under a myth. His pistol snatching arm-twist act, the studied Groan “hoon” and later his cuddly playing act with the kiddos just stand out .
Neha dhupia a wannabe actress, and gawde’s girl, looks plump and charming, does try and could have done better had there been some scope for it
Iravati Harshe impresses as a kind, understanding wife of the don in her . Harsh Chhaya portrays hawk eyed, cunning and concerned bhai with ease .
Vinay Pathak sparkles for a while; Naseer is a complete waste and could have been done away with
The Narrative is tight and engaging …and the movie is shotto create the perfect impression of Dark, dingy, shabby hideouts. Too real definitely not a visual treat JA .…
The movie have some surreal moments too and symbolic of distorted consciousness VK walking with a moron after being deserted by his assumed family and his recollection just before?
The Director Rajat Kapoor makes a heartening attempt to frame a person in and out of a forced existence and captures his naiveté, helplessness and meek acceptance interspersed with Comic and darks bits
